It still puzzles me why following the current mindless pop trend with her last two efforts did nothing for her.

Back To Basics was very experimental. It goes really deep into the jazz stuff. And then they're a lot of orchestral/cinematic songs that weren't pop friendly ballads - If she was staying in a pop lane, she would have done a ballad with a beat or something. And the material on the first disc is just way too R&B overall on the first disc. It wasn't crossover rhythmic pop like the stuff on Stripped.
And the original Bionic was experimental too. Stuff like Elastic Love, Birds Of Prey, and Monday Morning. But then, they got rid of a lot of that stuff and made her record all these generic rhythmic electro tracks produced by Polow and Tricky Stewart

No one should wait 4 years inbetween their albums unless they're an indisputable industry icon/legend. Let alone the fact you shouldn't wait 4 years to release a new album after the previous one (Back to Basics) did not get many big hits & was a very conceptual retro album. Inbetween, she released the lukewarm Keeps Gettin Better, which is a terrible song. Album sales declined on their own. And she completely 180'd her image between BtB & Bionic, which was a terrible move which have her no consistency with the public. You can't go from Baby Jane to futuristic naughty pop star like that. There was no gradual change.
She also waited too long between Lotus & Bionic. You don't let a flop like Bionic sit for 2 years. She should've gone to the studio enough to get an album out Q4 2011. Lotus was a year overdue. Lotus is also mediocre as an album (especially the album cover) besides obvious standouts.
She's not consistent, but I think the 4 year break & the first few months of Bionic were the biggest detriments to her career. She followed up BtB with something so different that some/many were left confused.
She needs to learn consistency, & be quicker. She should go back to music like BtB if she wants a future in music, since that seems to be the last time she saw decent success. She is mostly done with getting bit Hot 100 hits, so she should work on getting an album buying fanbase back instead.

Really agree with a lot of this.
Your Body was actually ready in Late 2011. I don't know why they waited a year for it. It would have perfect then. That was around the time the other pop divas were ending their eras and it would have been perfect for her to fill that void
Her timing really is so off.
If there's one thing I think thats helped Britney and Beyonce survive better is their timing and knowing when to go more pop.
After Blackout, people were surprised Britney was doing a new album so soon, especially with her personal struggles, but it was actually such a good choice to strike while the iron was hot and make a more pop friendly album the year after
Same thing too with Beyonce to an extent. B Day didn't do so well overall, but was saved by Irreplaceable and her urban audience Beyonce knew not to take that big of a gap the next album, and then came out with a much more pop album the next time with a smaller gap.
Meanwhile, Christina took a 4 year gap, when it should have been 2 at the most, and Bionic should have been much more accessible pop. She wanted to do more orchestral/cinematic ballads and electronica/indie stuff, and the label wanted her to do these generic electro rhythmic tracks.. There was no middle ground in accesible pop Lotus was finally her accesible middle ground, but a few years too late.

To be fair, Bionic was one of the most illegally downloaded albums of 2010. So people were interested in Christina's music, just not enough to make a purchase. I really think that had a lot to do with Christina's image being damaged by the GaGa comparisons made by her fans and the media. Bionic wasn't a bad album. It had very little in common with GaGa's material. Unfortunately, GaGa and her label saw a chance to use another artists name for mainstream success. No shade. Just truth.

IMO she is not as experimental as her fans say , she is just a pop girl for me.
IMO another problem could be that her music has never been innovative.
1) First album wasn't innovative it just followed a trend.
2) "Stripped" it had success but musically there wasn't nothing new there, just ballad, R&B/sould , pop tracks etc, nothing new.
3) "Back to basics" either the concept or the sould / jazz genre aren't new to music.
4) "Bionic" sounded dated, 2006 / 2007
5) "Lotus" , just funk-pop tracks, normal ballads, 2009 dance max martin music , there's nothing new there.
She actually never experiments with something really ahead of its time, she doesn't experiment with new sounds.
So she takes long breaks and when she comesback her music is nothing new or fresh really, that could turn off some people, IMO one of the reasons her songs are not played anymore on radio and she is not successful anymore is bacause her music doesn't seem to be interesting to people.

Britney didn't recover because she's sweet, her sweetness and humbleness is what draws millions of people into rooting for her. Through her ups and down, she has millions of people who have her back. If Xtina shaved her head and went through what Britney went through, I doubt people would still root for her. Let alone buy her albums... not that they do now ANYWAY.
You need some comprehension lessons, then.

That time was okay because she built up a lot of anticipation for B2B and everyone was ready for her to return because they loved the Stripped era. When she did it a second time after that was when it started being not such a good idea.
One long break is understandble. Take another long one if needed but to do it consecutively is really bad for pop stars of the 21st century.

But B2B only had one Top 10 hit, 'Ain't No Other Man', it isn't like she slayed with the era.

When Christina came out, all of her contemporaries released often (J.Lo, Britney, and P!nk), they never took a break of any kind until they were at their 3rd or 4th albums. By the time Christina got to her second they were far ahead of her.
Basically, what if Christina had released a follow up to her debut, then released Stripped or release Stripped soon after then her third and so forth would things be different. Because the length of time between Back to Basics and Bionic was lengthy for a pop artist.
I noticed this is a mistake pop artists make by waiting too long and things coming out wrong (examples: Paula Abdul, Nelly Furtado, etc).

No. She had Mi Reflejo & My Kind Of Christmas. And the time between BTB & Bionic was the same as the time between Funhouse & TTAL and both had a greatest hits released between them.

The timing for many of Christina's projects have been a problem, but I wouldn't say that the release of Stripped falls into this category. If anything, the fact that there was a break and she switched up her image it really helped to sell her line of 'taking time off to experience life' blah blah blah actually have real merit due to the albums content.
Now overall I do believe that timing as well as image overhauls are the bigger problem. While as a fan I can't say that her discography is particularly strong, I believe had she not taken as many breaks in between releases and not changed up her image as drastically with each release, things would be different.
I also wanted to point out that Christina made mention about having a breakdown of sorts during an interview with US Weekly during the Stripped era.

ffffffffff
All the Britney stans in here. Everything about Xtina is going to be negative for you.
So, why are you all even here? Get over it!

Good point. I think that is a major issue too. She should've made a slow transition and not a major one. Because it seems she's all over the place with music and image, it's like she doesn't have a particular image that's her.

The main problem was the long ass break between BTB & Bionic, she should've released in 2008 and it would've been a hit and Lotus should've happened last year or in 2010 as people has stated.

Yes. She always waited for so long to release albums principally between Back to Basics and Bionic. It was the time that music industry was declined faster than ever.

No, not really. Like you said, J.Lo didn't wait like Xtina - she released album after album - and (overlooking OTF) her career is irrelevant today.
Britney waited 4 years - the exact length between B2B and Bionic, and she damaged her image in these 4 years, unlike Xtina who remained classy, yet Britney managed to have a top 3 hit and a platinum album.
It all comes down to the fact that Xtina didn't know how to treat her fame. She's too bossy and demanding. Mary J Blige once said in an interview that Britney would last longer than 10 years and not Christina because Britney is sweet, humble and likable, and that's what it takes in the industry to last.
Well said, Mary, well said.

I don't even think their situations are comparable.
Britney's team was really good PR-wise and knew how to work the sympathy amongst the public and fans. And while she was away she was still in the public eye almost everyday.
When Christina took her break she completely disappeared which was one of the problems.

Well Britney's PR was horrid for years, but I think when they were trying to rebuild her it was good. Not to start something, but it was kind of weird she suddenly got all those VMAS in 2008 after years of being ignored and for a mediocre video when all of her excellent videos had been snubbed. Usually you win awards after you comeback, not before. And just a few months before she was still looking messy, then she suddenly showed up looking normal and with a new album soon? It was very abrupt, but I guess it worked out well.
So yeah, she never really left the public eye.

Britney was braver and more creative. Christina was so lazy... the Spanish album was unnecessary, she could just had a Latin American version of the debut, that was more sensible. That made her lose almost 2 years for Stripped.
