Yes some muslims are lovely, open-minded and accepting people. But a large amount of the people that follow their religion are awful people who believe in disgusting ideologies. People can defend it all they want but at the end of the day muslim people follow a religion that is, for the most part, a religion that breeds hate and a huge amount of un-acceptance against various groups of people. They're homophobic and sexist to name just a few.

No one in this thread is equating all Muslims of being ISIS sympathisers. The conversation here is that most followers of Islam are homophobic which is true. Sure there are a minority of liberal Muslims who tolerate gay people but the large majority are homophobic, even those living in advanced countries like the UK.

Literally in London, there are specific Muslim dominated areas you cannot walk through if you're openly gay.

Not people saying Christians aren't an issue when it comes to homophobia I'm screaming my priest left the Church of England because of their acceptance towards gay marriage and he converted into Catholic. Now I don't go to that trash church anymore

That's a huge issue because a lot of them still don't realize the Western society is more accepting of LGBT individuals. Meanwhile in MENA even the media refuses to mention them. They either pretend like they don't exist, or say that they're mentally ill.

I agree they probably hold lots of sexist and homophobic views (as do many people though in western society most people understand to keep those quiet).
We can't tar everyone with the same brush though.

If they don't conform they can leave (as can homophobes and sexists of all religions/ethnicities) but everyone deserves a chance.

Yeah, that's right. However you should mention that western/european christian states do not condone homophobia. We have no sharia and our legislation is a secular one. So religion is not the grounding of our law, as it happens for most of the Islamic states....
that's a huge difference.

However in the past we were not that different.... but claiming that there's no diffence right now, in the time we live, kinda equates to being blind....

Moreover you can't deny that a huge part of Christianity is slowly turning into acceptance in the West. We have equal marriage/civil unions almost everywhere and gay people actually have RIGHTS (while the number of agnostic and atheist people is increasing as well)... so.... I think Muslins shouldn't be defended at all in this... just like bigoted Christians usually aren't in our countries for their bigotry.

If you're just gonna sweep all Christians like that There are denominations with transgender priests and there are denominations that openly call for the holocaust of LGBT people. There's just so many polarities on both sides.

I mentioned the Anglican denomination.

There are always extremities in religious belief. That's down to personal viewpoints about scripture/upbringing etc. Christianity's reformation era was long and bloody, but those reforms have enabled it to cast off some of the shackles of fundamentalism that Islam can never shake off. Unless criticism of the Koran is somehow made viable.
