Really guys? Are you trying to clock me by citing Kanye as a singer? Sure 808s & Heartbreak was a great singing effort, but he's far from a singer. Without the immense autotune that album would have been nothing.
And how many songs has Nelly even sang on? Or some of these other male stars you guys have cited? Singing on one song of yours does not make you a successful ambassador of rap and singing, especially when you don't do it decently.
I'll give you guys Pharell and Andre 3000 to an extent but no one has been as noted for it as Drake has.
The reason why I was going to report you was because it was obvious you were trolling and fishing for arguments. I didn't want to engage in this activity, but if you insist, then I will. Nowhere on this planet, actually in this universe, is Britney considered the first to successfully combine rapping and singing, because she is atrocious at doing both. The girl can't even sing, so how is she even going to be considered as a legitimate contender in this thread? I would honestly consider her if she could sing or rap, but she can't successfully do either one. Until she can, you can stay pressed.
She is one of the Pop-girls that regularly experiments with & incorporates a "rap-singing" style on her albums - & like it or not, she does it well. Nothing ground-breaking, but she is more than capable.

808s and heartbreak is the reason drake has a career. kanye dropped that and almost immediately the likes of b.o.b, cudi, drake and wiz all found chart success by incorporating just as much singing into their songs as rapping (sometimes moreso)
who gives a **** if these artists autotuned their songs? this isn't a measure of their singing ability, it's a matter of which artists sang and rapped successfully. all of the ones mentioned in this thread did that, regardless of whether or not they used autotune lmao

bye
p.s. i still love u drake
Well our issue here is our interpretations of successful. When I think of someone singing and rapping successfully I think of someone who is skilled in singing, rapping, and has incorporated that style in many of his songs.
But if we're discussing popularity and chart success then he did lie.

Can said the same bout Drake.. lets not act like he doesn't use autotone, because he does.
Um... lets see #1, Dillema, Just A Dream, Over and Over, Ride With Me....can go on and on..

I didn't say she was the first, she was added to the end of that post for comic relief, which this joke comment from Drake was in desperate need of. Don't take it so seriously. Obviously Britney is no one's rapper,... though sometimes she's definitely not a singer.
Come on... You all know Drake can at least carry a tune. Kanye, Ja Rule, Nelly, Pharrell, and most others can't without the assistance of serious autotune, unless you count "Where Would I Be Without My Baaabaaay" singing... (Which I wouldn't)
Now if you said Cee-Lo, then OK.
Um, Drake is NO different than any of those artists. He is good at rapping but his singing is... TERRIBLE.
Fact of the matter is, Drake isn't the first to sing and rap, he isn't the only one known for doing both and he isn't the only one to find success doing both.
Nelly, Kanye, Lauryn, Missy, Pharrell, Cee-Lo, Ja Rule, Queen Latifah and many others come to mind. So Drake takes an L.

Nelly had an entire album go #1 and be certified 3x Platinum with just singing. It outsold his rap album released the same day. Not to mention, he had several songs BEFORE that become big hits. What are you even talking about?
