I Looooove Ciara!!! I can't wait for her new album!! She's the BEST!!! I don't understand why the people in the world don't love her! Her music and her dancemoves are the BEST!! I loooove her style and can't understand why people love Beyoncé style more! (I don't hate Beyoncé but because of her nobody has eye for GREAT artists like Ciara,Ashanti,Alesha Dixon,Cassie,Brooke Valentine to name a view) I hope Ciara gets the credits what she disurves, she such a GREAT talent!!
GIRLICIOUS,CHRISTINA AGUILERA,CIARA,LEONA LEWIS,KEYSHIA COLE,JENNIFER HUDSON,WHITNEY HOUSTON,
JANET JACKSON,MONICA,LIL'KIM,TRINA,MISSY ELLIOT,PUSSYCAT DOLLS,SPICE GIRLS,TLC,SUGABABES,ALESHA
DIXON,RIHANNA,ASHANTI,LETOYA,CASSIE,CHERISH,DAY 26,SHAKIRA,JENNIFER LOPEZ,MARC ANTHONY AND MORE!!

Oh I wasn't comparing them. I just wanted to correct that she doesn't have more hits than both of them. And yes, I missed "CLEA" Get Em Cici, so their tied. However, longer or not Ashanti has released 11 singles, Ciara 10, so they're neck to neck.
Ashanti had her own lane. She was one of the newest leading R&B ladies back then, breaking a lot of records and what not. Mya doesn't even have a career much anymore, so I won't even talk about her. But yeah, if you mean Ciara is on a road alone, that's not true. Especially if Ashanti wasn't and she was. She was just another up & comer who got lucky because she had actual, professional, backup help, while other sillies were just demos and quick hits. But yeah, she isn't unique.

She's tied with Ashanti, and Ashanti came out in 2002. 10 years will be two years from now, and regardless she took a long break between her last two albums which although a Pop failure, she managed to get #2 on the R&B charts. So let's not get too far into that.

Ciara is more well known that Ashanti is and ever will be.
Ciara's Pop hits
Goodies, 1,2 Step, Oh, Get up, and Like A Boy made her more well known.
But Ciara is way to good to be compared to Ashanti.

Ashanti NEVER had her own lane, we can put her under the BEYONCE category in a second. There's a big difference from being UNIQUE and having your own lane as well. Who is out right now that's like Ciara? If you go down the line you won't find any.
Back to Ashanti thing, 11 singles with FOUR ALBUMS to 10 singles with TWO ALBUMS proves the point here. Ashanti was never as consistant as Ciara, I really don't see similarities.
People need to understand "The Evolution" is not what's wrong with Ciara, it's "Fantasy Ride" that's bringing her down.

Ciara probably has more hits at Urban than BOTH of them put together and her fanbase is also bigger than most of those irrelevant R&B chicks, she's far from over, but she does need to get it together.
|
You don't get it.
Both Mya and Ashanti had successful careers, but couldn't keep it together after 2-3 albums for one reason or another. I'm not saying their music became ****, it's just that their fame/selling power faded away even though they still had a "fanbase".
The same thing is happening to CiCi. She has some good new music, her fans are LOVING it, but it's going nowhere. Why? I don't know.
Things could still turn around though. Oh and I never said I didn't like Never Ever.

Ciara is not more well known than Ashanti. I would say they are equally at the same point of relevance at the moment, except "TWTILY" went #2 on R&B, while Ciara has been struggling to reach such heights since "Promise".
Their Pop hits are also equally balanced, with people remembering "Foolish" & "Rock Wit U" the most from Ashanti, and honestly "1,2 Step" from Ciara. However, "Always on Time", "What's Luv", "Into You", "Mesmerize", etc. will always be remembered catchy Pop hooks from Ashanti with maybe "Like You" and "Lose Control" from Ciara.
But all in all, they're equal. No one is bigger than the other right now.

I get what you're saying. It's not your fault people can't read.
Anyway, I'm glad this album FINALLY has a date.

The only thing that should be compared there is "Promise" & "The Way That I Love You" right now. It's clear "Promise" slaughtered the single, it spent NINE WEEKS inside the Top 2 of Urban. Not to mention the other THREE Top 10 hits from that album, Ashanti has failed to reach heights of that consistency since probably her first album in 2002.

I could care less about POP radio success from Ciara or Ashanti but...
POP is neither of the artist's target anymore, although Ashanti has been screaming for Pop play with singles from her first three albums, "The Evolution" said nothing about Pop to me, it was an album full of Hip Hop Throwbacks and R&B Slow Jams, nothing saying "Pop play me", and all the songs that were sent to Pop radio went Top 40 including the R&B song "Promise", most Urban artist would Dream of Pop play like that with such an Urban-leaning song.
In conclusion, Ciara just needs to drop some type of dance song that will explode and get her 50 Million impressions from Urban airplay alone. "Go Girl" was a moderate hit at Urban and I don't know what "Never Ever" is gonna do just yet but neither of the songs sound like something SHE needs, it's just not her.

Ciara is reminiscent of others. Beyonce being one of them. The whole singles/albums thing, you haven't explained your point at all. You're just stating obvious and saying your point is proven. Yes Ashanti has more albums because she released more in her time. She moved on the next year after her debut to keep up her name, which Ciara should have done.
The only point I see out of what you pointed out....is that Ashanti came back in 2008 and got a #2 on R&B, proving her relevance. And "Evolution" was her problem. It has sold 1.3 million total, but 77% of it's total in that first month when it was certified. Meaning no one cared for the album except hardcore fans and the Xmas sales benefited her.
Yes, her management plays a part in her demise this era, but as Yahhh! said it's just a cycle. If she was in her own lane or unique, she'd be getting hits 24/7. But the un-comparable Ashanti got hers?

You're calling "Go Girl" & "Never Ever" good enough?
"Work" & "High Price" would have been MUCH better leaders, and would have been HITS at that. She still has time to release "Work" they better not pass that up.
Ashanti just picked up a Top 2 Urban hit with her latest album and could have another hit with "Want It, Need It" as well, she's not over.

Yeah, but "The Way..." still went #2 and "GG" and "NE" have done nothing as high. That was my point. No, Ashanti hasn't gotten three top 10s from one album since her debut, but she got two on her second album, and one from her third & fourth. It's not consistency as far as quantity, but she is still getting them as her career rolls. It's like people who laughed when Britney went #1 with "Womanizer" cause it's been 10 years, when that shows relevancy.
The Pop comment wasn't towards you, so I won't bother to respond, especially since it had nothing to do with who was getting Pop play now, LMAO.

Ciara isn't at all like Beyonce. They're styles of like everything is completely different.
And you're completely shifting from the point that "Goodies" was FULL of Pop hits, of course it's gonna sell more albums, not to mention the falling economy. 1.3 Million for an Urban album is really good. Who wouldn't have predicted a huge down in sales when she's not trying to reach that Pop audience that she once was with "Goodies"?
Is she not getting Top 10 hits everywhere?
All FOUR SINGLES from "The Evolution" was Top 10 hit at Urban. The singles she's releasing are lack-luster and falling behind everyone else. As stated before "Work" & "High Price" were PERFECT leaders, not to mention "Echo" & "Lover's Thing" would work too. She has the songs, she's not releasing them as singles because her label doesn't give two ***** about her. I see a future drop from JIVE in the near future.

"Good Good" was outpeaked by "Go Girl" and could/probably will be outpeaked by "Never Ever" as well. But I do understand your comparing of the songs, "Go Girl" was sadly not pushed.

Well, I'm through with Ciara not being comparable because she is, and well yeah. "Goodies" being full of Pop hits was never a point of mine because I only mentioned Pop when Get Em Cici did. The economy was not failing in 2005/2006, at least not in the rapid pace it is now.
Anyways, the whole genre thing is not even debatable. Sure, Pop + Urban = more sales, wider audience, but she still released 2 more singles that were hits on R&B and the album still didn't sell. So you're basically proving my point even more if the album couldn't sell more after 1 month with "LAB" and "CLEA" being hits in their respective department.
And no, she IS NOT getting Top 10s everywhere. She was, and that was 2 years ago. Major exaggeration right there. As stated, yes they were all Top 10 hits, but the album still failed to sell more under the new audience.
I won't discuss what would be perfect lead singles, at least not in this way. Surely opinions can be thrown everywhere about what she could have done, but there is no proof of that. Unless you mention others who were successful with it, which would then shoot down her "being in her own lane".

The album sold 700,000 copies from CHRISTMAS sales, that meaning the album sold 600,000 copies up until today. Which is STILL respectable for an Urban album, when most Urban artist struggle to go GOLD, and thanks to THE TOP TEN URBAN singles "Like A Boy" & "Can't Leave Em Alone" she did that.If "Get Up" & "Promise" sold 700,000 together, that's VERY good.
Stop exaggerating the Christmas surge thing. That would be 44% not 77%.

Well, this is the way how i see the whole situation:
Let's say Never Ever will be a top 30 hit on BB Hot 100, i can see that the first week numbers of the album will be very good bcause of her fanbase, but I'm worried about the long consistency.
But there is still a Chance to get this era working really good, If Never Ever should flop, there is still this Justin Song on the beginning of march, if it's a hot club banger with a hot video, I can see a Hit and the album selling, If the Justin Song is a slow ballad an a disappointment and a grower again, I don't know...but there is still WORK; So if the JT Song disappoints again, she is still able to release WORK before the album drops and can save the era..
I KNOW; CRAZY; BUT HEY; IF WE ARE ALL WRONG AN NEVER EVER WILL BE A SMASH; EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE
