Discovery: Walk Off The Earth Cover
This Walk off The Earth cover of “Somebody That I Used to Know” was my introduction to this song. I believe I even played the cover more than the original. It was great seeing this track start from the bottom and rise to the top; I was dumbfounded by its sudden success. No one should let popularity and overexposure discourage them from liking a song, this is so mesmerizing. I’m glad artists like Gotye and Kimbra got a chance to shine – two of my favorites of the year.

Nas
“Daughters”
I’m a casual Nas fan, sucks that I got into “Daughters” a little too late. Nas every once in a while comes back with a track suited for the youth to appreciate. This is an authentic hip-hop track – when has any Nas tracks not been? When everyone else is spitting about drugs, partying, and accessories Nas is dedicating a song that both fathers and daughters can cherish.

Tito Lopez
“Mama Proud”
From Father to Daughter relationship to Mother to Son… what kind of transition? ;eek:
I was taken back by this track, I don’t remember where I first heard it but all I knew that it amazed me how a rapper during these times would have the balls to make a song about being a “mama’s boy”.

K'NAAN
”Is Anybody Out There? (featuring Nelly Furtado)”
The rap reign continue with K’naan who is so underrated. Nelly starts off with the hook and K’naan comes in with his story telling rhymes. The upbeat-ness almost makes you forget that this is a sob song and that isn’t a bad thing either.

Lifehouse
“Between the Raindrops (featuring Natasha Bedingfield)”
For me the chorus may be the strongest point because Lifehouse and Tasha sound great together. Beautiful song. I always liked Lifehouse.

Andy Grammer
“Fine By Me”
I’ve been slowly but surely getting into Andy. I’m taking things step by step so I haven’t gotten into his current single “Miss Me” yet. I get bummed out once the song ends because the chorus is so fun and then everything else is so vibrant. A very cute adult contemporary track this is.

Mary J. Blige
“Don't Mind (a crispy chicken with fresh lettuce and three cheeses)”
Yes, the ORIGINAL song that was made into another song talking about a god damn Cripsy Chicken snack wrap.
All jokes aside this is a freaking bop and it’s such a gem in her discography!.Not her strongest single ever but Mary knows how to make a feel-good track.

Kimbra
“Come Into My Head”
Yas! This is the musical direction Christina A. needed and I repeat… I compare the two too much but it pisses me off. The Jazzy beat, the melody that gets you amped up, the vocals; everything Kimbra does musically is perfection.
