I liked this song a lot at one point, played it a lot. Still put the radio up when it's on. But no longer play it on my free will. In fact, ARTPOP hasn't been on my iPhone since around Thanksgiving.
39 Strong // One Direction
The only song that charts from Midnight Memories, I still need to get into it. Story of My Life could have charted if I didn't see like 12 performances of Harry shouting the poor song. This song charts because it's just a nice, almost earnest, song. There's no pretense or effort to be something (read: Mumford and Sons) it is not.
I'm sorry if I say, "I need you."
But I don't care,
I'm not scared of love.
'Cause when I'm not with you I'm weaker.
Is that so wrong?
Is it so wrong
That you make me strong?
Just nice ****.
38 Dark Horse (Honestly, the song needs a rapper but Juicy J is **** on it so let's ignore him) // Katy Perry
Yaaaaas Katy. I blast radio when this ish comes on. Slay me Katy.
37 Werewolf (I Like You) // Sky Ferreira
My list is exclusively 2013. I removed a few songs so far as I looked them up and saw while they're from albums released this year, they were released late last year. This song, is not like that at all. Werewolf (From the Waist Down) and the revised Werewolf (I Like You) are like night and day and that allows this song from Night Time, My Time B-Sides Part I to chart. I waited years (or maybe just one, I don't remember really) for this complete song. A cute, pure song it just feels like fluff and it's perfect for those reasons.
36 Back to Black (feat. Andre 3000) // Beyonce
I HATED this song when I first heard it. I dragged everyone involved.
It's genius though, and after a few plays I realized that.
Beyonce's voice is just so haunting on it. Just, incredible. BUT I really dislike how Andre 3000 switched the perspective on his parts though. There's no interaction between the two of them in the song to make it duet like, yet he couldn't sing the song as it is. The lyrics to his part are just ugh, the changes, like, that's not the song or the mood or what it's about. It just seemed like an insecure man not wanting to sing a girl song/show weakness.
