I think Britney Spears is the biggest loser in the history of music but I will not deny her ability to sell millions of albums and her importance to Pop Culture and today's generation of homosexuals.
Everybody loves the Beatles, their fanbase is a lot more varied than Madonna's... hipsters don't even use at all

I find her average. Average appearance, average voice, average dancing but with an excellent team, excellent image revamps and some excellent musicians/producers/songwriters behind her. She took risks that is why she is remembered, there were and are plenty of artists more talented than her, she got the luck of the draw and was the ballsiest.

The Beatles came around at a completely different time though, you can't compare them to Madonna or Beyoncé or anyone like that because their style is completely different. They didn't dance just as The Foo Fighters and the RHCP don't dance today, they were not a boyband as we see them today. They were phenomenal songwriters and wrote and played everything themselves.
I think you should try listening to Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band right through once or twice, you may get a new appreciation for them. They turned an album from a collection of songs to an experience, complete with intro and outro. They were revolutionary even though they weren't attractive or glamorous, it was part of the appeal, they were attainable. In my opinion the Beatles and ABBA were much more talented and have had a bigger and more lasting impact on music that any others who would be considered 'pop' from 25 or more years ago.
Cool thread apart for The Beatles diss. They will stay bigger, more loved, more talented than Madge has ever been. And I like what someone said about them not being frauds like Elvis.
It took so much time to get into Madge, who knows youmight get into them one day.
1. Beautiful Stranger
2. Don't Tell Me (the only ballad I like from her)
3. Get Together
4. Nothing Really Matters
5. Justify My Love
I want to check out Music and Ray Of Light because they are similar to Kylie Minogue's current material and I really enjoy that from a great lyrical & musical standpoint. Confessions On The Dancefloor was introduced to me by the same person who brought me to ATRL and it was during a transitional period for me which made it seem even more grand but not grand enough for me to check out her prior work.
A few months ago I was in a thread and I mentioned how I only heard 3 Madonna songs ever and everybody was like "really?", so then I downloaded her singles collection and I've been rocking to 4 Minutes, Ray of Light, Holiday, and more ever since. Madonna isn't that bad, she's pretty good.
