I don't think it's a case of him wanting white old men's approval tbh. I just think he has legit been conditioned to think of racism as not that big a problem. He thinks it does not need to be addressed all the time. His privilege as a rich man has sort of effected him a tiny bit. He still denounces racists and racism but he thinks it should not be the focus..despite the fact that it should because unfortunately racism happens all the time. He is out of touch :/
