This makes no sense
Why the hell was she wearing dark clothes/makeup then, if she wanted to show she let the light in?
And of course you had to drag Gaga into this even when what you posted makes no sense and is completely off topic

"Why PRISM isn't a dark album?" (poor grammar btw, should be "Why isn't PRISM a dark album?", fyi! )
To which the answer is: Katy went through a dark period in her life (her breakup with Russell Brand) and was feeling low and described her upcoming record (wasn't even PRISM at that stage, as she said this in Early 2012) as "real ****ing dark".
Easy-to-digest answer: 'PRISM' was never supposed to be a dark album.
And there you have it!

And there you have it: a simple, easy to understand explanation, but watch them still try iT

There is no light without the dark
One cannot exist without the other
Katy Perry, serving us spiritual realness. Buy Spiritual on iTunes.

Katy is more than confident enough to take risks, if she wants to. But she's not desperate enough to try to "prove herself" to her haters by making the weirdest song or experimenting with the weirdest genre. That's what's great about Katy, she knows who she is as an artist and she isn't going to try to be this dark popstar just because some people want her to. That's not her game. She doesn't do what people, like her fans, tell her to do. She does what she wants to do.
No, not everyone can have a TFM era. But not everyone can have a TD era, either.
Also, it's to, not too, in that second last sentence.

Sadly, thats even a more baffling explanation that doesnt make much sense.
I mean, once the album was finished, & Roar was chosen & Katy had "let the light in"....then why burn the wigs, to indicate that she had let go of her former self?
Why bury ha things in a casket, with ppl crying...when she was abt to release another fun pop record??

They're just promo videos! Why make a video saying that your career is over and instruct people NOT to buy your song on iTunes?

And why didn't she translate that dark period into an album? Most acclaimed albums are dark periods that was translated into an album.
It was supposed to be a dark album (her words) but she changed it.

Y'all are stupid as hell. The album definitely has darker themes than any other Katy album.
Roar is a triumphant song, but the verses are actually pretty depressing, it's just masked by that pop beat.

You know you are already losing the argument when you resort to correcting ppls "grammatical errors" in every post instead of just focusing on whats being said & asked.
But thats none of my business tho.

It's not like we suggested the genre, we just thought she'd follow through with what she promised (clearly a bad idea) so yeah. And you're right not everyone can have a TD but how is that relevant to this thread ? It's not.
And when you have to resort to correcting grammar it makes you look pressed and insecure. Another thing that's irrelevant.
Edit: What Thor said (probably what everyone else is thinking)

ATRL would have criticized a dark era just as much so at this point who cares? She can go in that direction with her next album if she chooses to.

Kat wanted a dark album and had plans for it but I guess her label told her no and she had to drop the idea and come up with this "let the light in" crap

Because Katy was strong enough to overcome it, and not wallow in her own self-pity. She turned something negative into something so positive, and eventually a smash hit in "Roar". Katy's not the type to try to capitalise on her bad relationship and whine about it to get some more coins. She's no victim.
