Partly it is based on money aswell, and the fact that Nicole has no direction herself what to do.
If you get Beyoncé in your studio, you have artistry, you have millions of ideas, you get someone with coins.
When Big Fat Lie was created, you got a failing artist with no label at that point, material funded by herself, and someone who's musical direction has been lost since her former label cancelled her first solo record.
So it has to do with several factors, but I truly believe money also played a role in it. Because we are talking about the man who crafted Umbrella, Single Ladies which are world dominating smashes. And then you get BFL as album (which I as stan love) which doesn't include any undeniable smash.
