If GaGa or Beyoncé had said this, I'm sure ATRL would be praising them to the high heavens, but because it is Katy, she has to be immediately dragged.

Gaga would not be praised for a SECOND if she did this. The most dedicated monsters might try, but most of us would still take issue with the wording and the rest of ATRL would eviscerate the woman. Don't pretend that the perception of Katy on her is anything like that of Gaga or Beyonce, one of whom would receive a new asshole as a result of this comment and the other of whom is actually tied by race to the "Black Lives Matter" movement and would therefore be speaking under a different context. Most people aren't even dragging Katy, but saying that her intent was sincere while her wording was piss-poor and inadvisable.
Furthermore, expanding this to "All Lives Matter"
misses the damn point. As white people, both you and I have no right whatsoever to make this remotely about us, or about "everyone," when the issue is very strongly correlated with racism toward black people (in many of these cases coming from exclusively white people). The fact of the matter is that this isn't about us at all, because we're not the people experiencing racism and being shot over our skin color. If you want to talk about police abusing their power in general, we can lump all victims together, but with regard to this movement and with regard to the shootings to which this movement pertains, the issue is racism, and it's not our place to expand the scope of the movement.
