Same thing happened with Madonna when Britney came around.

And the sales are way lower than expected, but oh well. No harm done!

I see where you're coming from. But let's be honest, this IS GaGa's peak, isn't it? OK, good.
I'm just waiting for Britney to come back in 2 years and slay the **** off of GaGa and to shut EVERYONE who thought GaGa (who has shown us her best, really, which is NOTHING compared to the power of THE Britney Spears) is the new Britney.

In terms of impact, Like a Virgin was Madonna's peak, Baby One More Time was Britney's peak, The Fame will most likely be GaGa's peak. My point was that these three women's breakthroughs hold the distinction of being massive global phenomenons paralleled by no other females, and also the fact that they're each linked by their blond hair, sexy personas, and boundary-pushing videos/songs. Louie, this isn't a matter of personal preference, it's a matter of acknowledging a shift in pop music culture.

I agree with everything you're saying. But I still stand at my point, in 3 years Britney will be more popular than GaGa.
Britney's dimension is popular and crystal clear, GaGa's is unknown.

Could the numbers for The Singles Collection be wrong? 28k just doesn't sound right.

yeah but these numbers are just still weird. I bought the standard edition and I'm still going to buy the ultimate edition.
Hopefully the predictions are wrong. I hope for around 50k.

She probably doesn't even know this album came out, she is so clueless about her career. She probably doesn't even know what songs on her respective albums

Most people are just waiting for the box set to come out. The next few weeks will be fine.

I'm so not buying the standard version. So pointless.
However, I can't wait to buy the boxset, though I don't know if it will be available in my country.

You're clearly confused. GaGa's fans will always be here, just like Britney's were.

I think her peak was Hung Up, worldwide. That single was ALL OVER THE PLACE.
In the US... Vogue i think, or Like a Prayer.

Britney has never had a song of boundary-breaking potential.
The only one who has outsold Janet on that list is Madonna, so keep it cute.

I love Janet but I don't think she ever commanded the kind of worldwide attention Madonna or Britney have. Control was a fantastic album but it didn't have the sales/cultural impact BOMT did. Janet and Madonna's music complemented each others a lot in the 80's and 90's but Janet never really succeeded Madonna...they were both the industry's leading ladies during the same times.

When people think of signature Madonna, the first thing that comes to most people's minds is the wedding outfit and the VMA performance and her early 80's look.

Could be...
Conic bras, blond ambition tour, leotards, botox, cheek implants, muscles, etc are also the first things that comes to most people's minds when they think of "MADONNA".
