I remember watching a UK interview N&S posted I think late last year. She did mention how she and some of the peeps from her team went to see a F&M show not just because they're big fans but also to pick up on new production sounds and ideas. I doubt anything will come of that but that got me excited.

@Eyarimu:
Exactly. I was just about to write that. The only songs on Stronger that sound boy-bashing are MKIA, LMD, Einsten, Stronger, YLM. And we can safely say that YLM isn't about some her flop boyfriend. I'm pretty sure that we can say the same thing about Einstein and LMD. I'm not sure which purpose was MKIA written with but I do think that Kelly interprets it pretty much the same way like it is shown in the music video. Stronger's (both song's and album's) main purpose is empowerment and I think that we can find this theme in almost every song on Stronger. That's why I really like Stronger (album), it is cohesive (thanks to the theme).

Wow, really?! I'm praying for this (the inspiration) to happen.

No. Mr. Know It All, Stronger, You Love Me, Einstein, The War Is Over, Let Me Down, Alone, and Don't Be A Girl About It. I bet that these songs would clearly sound like boy-bashing songs for most people unless they were told what she tried to mean on these songs. Standing In Front Of You, Breaking Your Own Heart, and Why Don't You Try. These songs are about bashing coward boys with purified language. If people can't understand the true meanings she intended on her songs, that's just her writing problem. And let's suppose that listeners understand what she intended, but there's still problem about her writing skills. Is reproaching people in relationships with her the only theme she can think of when she writes or buys songs? She should try to write different kinds of lyrics. And PLU flopped not because it had bad production but because people got tired of empowering songs. Its production isn't that bad. And why do you mention my taste sis? I know Florence makes her own music, gets much acclaim from both critics and GP, and sings live. But these facts doesn't have anything to do with making me stan for her. I just don't like her music.
|
How about GP being idiots? There's nothing wrong with a song you must read into really hard to understand what the writer meant. That's how you make legendary songs. The ones you would like Kelly to write are queickly forgotten. I know there are exceptions but Kelly is not one.
It's good that Mr. Know It All is about boyfriends, friends, parents, schoolmates and many others. Same with Let Me Down.
I guess you would like her to be just a robot, or a doll instead artist. She mentioned it in many interviews. "You wouldn't believe how many people would like you to be a robot". Just let her do what she does and what makes her happy. She's here for making music, not hits.

And nobody forced you to make such an ignorant comment. Stop massaging your taint and learn to accept other opinions, especially when they make sense.

What's so ignorant in what I said? Maybe I forgot about everyone here having diffrent taste and not liking certain artists and told something insulting but it's basically what base is for. Discussing. I'm not good at discussing at all, especially in langueage that is not Polish.

Ok I get it.
I thought he thinks that half of Stronger is boy-bashing. Did he mean GP all the time?
Edit: I think I'm gonna report myself

You forgot about Alone. She's certainly singing it loud to her potential boyfriend.
And when we kiss I feel so empty.

And this is the exact reason why I fell in love with "I Forgive You". The lyrics are so not Kelly. Still believe it would've done well on radio.

I kinda wish it was a ballad or uptempo song with fresh production.

The production is dated, that's for sure. Speaking of ballads. Stronger missed a powerhouse ballad like Already Gone, Cry and Because Of You.

Each one of those you mentioned has flawless instrumentals. When I focus on them, I'm slayed.

Kelly's had an amazing ballad on every album, the closest we got on Stronger was The War Is Over/Honestly, but both of them lack a certain star quality if you know what I mean, they were great but not quite there.
|
Maybe it's that they're not about love?

I agree. My only dislike about cry is that the production tends to be loud in the chorus. Already Gone contains in my opinion the best production of Kelly's discography.

Exactly! Honestly and The War Is Over had so much potential. The intro and versus capture your attention but then it leaves you hanging. It just doesn't go anywhere.

I personally don't consider TWIO being boy-bashing. I think it's also about being strong(er). It's rather like "I am sad that you can't appreciate who I am, I won't fight with you because of it, I rather move on than let me and you get hurt, we don't belong together". I don't know, I can't really explain it.

Alone is kinda 50/50 though, half the song she's saying she feels alone with a guy, the other half she's saying she's not alone anymore and she's happy with a new guy. I see it more as a take on moving on and finding happiness, rather than boy-bashing
|
I couldn't say it better.

Cry and The War Is Over are very similar thematically. Stronger didn't have a ballad with the same qualities as Anytime, Because of You, etc. I often forget the album has any technical ballads because no song on Stronger feels like one.
