What R&B album did she have again? BOOP

It's not about the Album but about the singles too.
Take A Bow was one of the biggest R&B hits of 2008

Well, yeah. No one is saying that critic voting is always right, but at least they are not rigging the voting system like fans do.

I know. I remember when Beyonce didn't any People Choice Awards last year. I was so ****ing done. Like how the hell did she lose best r&b artist to Mariah Carey(whom I love with all my heart)?
And I will still never get over how "Single Ladies" never won "Best Pop Video" or "Female Video". I mean damn, if it won Video of the Year that must mean it's the best pop and female video.

I'm not saying don't vote for her. If she's nominated and you like her, go crazy. My point being is, in these fan-voting awards, there's really no structure. It's vote for you fave regardless what genre they're in and it takes that award from a better deserving candidate. That's all I'm saying.

Some people just don't care for voting.... They'll watch the show, but don't care enough to vote.

That's the beauty of real awards, and why they'll always **** over populist ones.
With these fan-based pieces of garbage, there is no thrill, no chase, no excitement. There's no sport. It's all in black and white: "so and so sold more." "so and so's fan-base has no life."
With REAL AWARDS, every RIGHT decision feels momentous (see this year's Grammy win for Album of the Year), and every WRONG decision ... gives us material to talk about.
You have to remember Deemy - award shows are to (most) gay men what sports are to (most) straight men. We need an actual CONTEST.
Not this fan ********.

When I see Best R&B female, I think of their overall artistry for that era. GGGB did have "Hate That I love You" and "Take a Bow", but look at the other singles released.

That happens with every voting system to be honest.
Like Arcade Fire winning AOTY but losing Alternative Album at the Grammys.
Or Missy Elliott winning Video of the Year but losing Female Video for "Work It."

That is my main gripe with the VMAs and AMAs, it's all fan voting so you know who wins before the show starts.

I agree ut VMA I mean the critics are gonna choose which video they liked the best not which video WAS the best. With the Grammys, its just based on the songs but yes I do love the excitement of wanting to know who's going to win and all. I would love if the VMAs goes back to the voting system where a committee choose but not when the committess are ppl on blogs that also "stan" for certain artists. I would much rather MTV enlists Graphic designers, directors, filmmakers, people who make videos and study Art to judge and critique the awards.

That's why I already see Gaga taking home the "major" awards. She arguably has the younger fans who are actually going to vote as opposed to Adele who, like Cap10 said earlier, has fans who are going to watch their kids

yeah but look at what her competitions and peer released too? oranges to apples.
Plus, the AMAs are not like the Grammys. It's more of a Billboard type approach where industry people pick out the nominees that have met the requirements and its also based on sales numbers, radio airplay, digital streaming so on and so forth.

I'm just not here for powervoting sis. I swear, every time the VMAs, PCs or AMAs come around, I see stanboards set up times to vote and how many accounts to make for their favorites to win. At least with industry or critic awards, there is ONE vote per voter. That's much fairer.

Yes she did. She won Pop/Rock Female. It just wasn't televised. She didn't win anymore because she was up against Justin in the other categories.

But she also didn't have a 1.1M opener.
I"m not saying she's going to sweep, but I feel she's going to win awards Adele should win without a shadow of a doubt.

The AMA's love to shade Gaga, remember the year the country band won for Best Breakthrough Act against Gaga AND they claim that was fan voted, I'm sorry but there was no way in hell they actually won that award. I know country music fans vote hard for award shows but I just cannot. But, I agree with what you are saying.

If I had my way I would give Katy Perry - E.T Video of The year but I know it wont win b/c she will be going up against artists with stronger voting fanbase.
And Cap10Planet I know U not praying and wishing for Adele to win any "Best Female Video" or "best Pop video" with her just sitting her ass down like a lazy maid. After all, U are pioneering that it be based off the actual "video".
But I want her to scoop up Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography for Rolling In the Deep b/c the art direction in the video was very cool but for her to Be Best pop or Best Female.. No.

Yeah true. That's the only positive note I can give to the AMAs. They actually consider sales, airplay, streaming, etc when considering the nominees.
