Janet still has a strong fanbase in Japan from what I gather. But her fans in Australia, Canada, and the UK have all deserted her. Her label is thinking of maybe not even releasing Discipline in the UK (from what I heard). But Janet will always at least go Gold with her albums, the same way Madonna and Britney will. She doesn't make music that appeals to the masses anymore but she has established enough followers to guarantee at least modest success.
bobby, they won't release the physical single of Flopback due to poor downloads single sales. But they will release the album, that's what I read at least.

It's never interesting to see a new mag article (she never says anything new--very human, very private, which I admire), but it is nice to see her new shots.
Very classy there. I like it. That seems to be a recurring theme.
Feedback didn't work that well but it is huge with her fan base in dance studios across the country. Just take a look at all of the YouTube videos up of new choreography and you will see that Janet still, more than any other artist, inspires people as performers.
This album can do very well. What they "need" to do is be as patient as possible so as to not look desperate and then get the "PDSM" sound-a-like single out to every radio station in the country that will play it. If Janet is going to come back it's going to be through the clubs bc of the direction she is going in her career recently. Though I'd much prefer an "Again" style Janet... eh.
She can out-do Rihanna so get that single out and people will buy the album.
To test the waters I usually see if my sister will listen to a song, she's one of those people who just says no immediately and never listens to the cds I burn her, lol, but I have a feeling girls are going to want to hear that Janet club song. as do I.
Mmm, I'm not sure. The clubs don't always = album success. Rihanna just hit platinum, nearly a year, after "Umbrella" came out and smashed chart records.

very true to all that
it's amazing how feedback inspires a lot of fans to re create new choreographies on youtube or dailymotion !!!

Rihanna's album came out last June...June 2008 is like 4months away!!..it ISN'T nearly a yr after her album came out Rico..stop exagerrating..her album went platinum in 7.5months..that is not that BAD as you are making it seem..
I read the blog on Janet over at Vh1. I think I respect her decisions musically a little bit more now. I'm still disgusted by "warmth" but i'm curious what exactly she had in her mouth while singing. the fact that there is sadness in "twenty foreplay" gives me a much greater appreciation for that song. Velvet Rope was such a twisted cd because it was sexy but it was sad too. It really captured her marriage falling apart. I love that about her though; the way she is able to nuance her songs that way. I think IDJ sensed that people were tired of her sex songs though and that's why there's only one "baby-making song" on the new album.
