And I'm not understanding why people keep bringing up "10% share". If Amazon pushed 200k of Born This Way sales, won't all 200k count?

That's what I've been saying. If she's predicted to sell 800-850k, according to BILLBOARD, 200k is 20-25% of the FULL total, how come some keep bringing the "Amazon is 10% of the digital market" is beyond... Anything.

Do ya'll think that's an accurate guess? 400k downloads in the first day and 100k for the rest of the week...? I mean, I know the Amazon deal makes the downloads REALLY frontloaded but that kind of seems low for the rest of the week.
Hope they're being conservative!

Anthony, what percentage of that theoretical 200k came from people who would not have bought the album otherwise? It's incredibly misleading to just say "well, she'd have 200k less without the Amazon sale," because that's simply not true unless literally 100% of those sales would have been non-existent otherwise.

Market share doesn't change in one or two days... I guess you do not have economics and or market studies. And it was only 1 day. Besides, Amazon also sells physicals - these might also be in the figures.

Did you not comprehend what I've been saying so repeatedly to the point I'm annoying myself? :-/
Let's go again: it's not accurate to say Amazon's sales are only "10%" of the digital market IN THIS CASE, when 'BTW' was being sold for less than 1 dollar - Hence Billboard & HITS proving MY point. I never said anything about ALL those people ONLY buying the album because of the discount - Although, to say there weren't MANY deciding to buy the album now (including those who couldn't afford it for the regular price) and on Amazon, because of the 99 cents deal, just seems ridiculous IMO.
But hey, that's just me, think whatever you want, especially cause I'm tired of trying to explain the difference between black and white.

Good for her! They really marketed the hell out of this thing. It will cross 1 million for sure, there's no way Interscope will settle for less.
The Amazon deal clearly made this happen, though. 200-300k probably came from that deal.
Her 2nd week is definitely going to be interesting.

I'm on my 2nd graduation college now - I'm already a lawyer - and I do have Economics and Market studies.
I also studied a lot, on both schools, Language, Grammar and Comprehension, in order to be a better reader - and I read articles from both Billboard and HITS on this matter - and writer. I can't be sure it was the same with everyone else though, so I'm resting my case.

I don't disagree, although I guess we don't know how many is MANY, exactly. Even a substantial increase in Amazon's market share can be indicative of them funnelling away business from iTunes (which was obviously the plan).
It will be interesting to see the breakdown in the end, if it is ever published.

Thanks for acknowledging the fact that there will be an increase in Amazon's market, at least for this week. Others have failed to do so and it's kinda depressing.

I'm happy not because she's managed to sell a lot this week, but because the music industry is starting to climb back up again. She has definitely raised the bar once again, and she has certainly proved all her critics wrong that she's just another "popstar".
