The bottom line is no. It wasn't remembered, it wasn't covered and it got no pick up from any media outlet after the performance aired. None of the entertainment talk shows like Extra, Access Hollywood or Entertainment Tonight talked about her performance. Even online sites didn't even reference it. The performances most people talked about were Janet's tribute to her brother Micheal, Beyonce's Single Ladies performance and Jay-Z's performance with Lil Mama and Alicia Keys. She was overlooked that year completely and no one remembered her performance. People were far more interested in the Taylor Swift, Kanye drama. Gaga was not talked about at all that night. Why are the monsters trying so hard with this?

I can't really tell cause VMA's isn't broadcasted here in Croatia so people generally don't know anything about VMA's. Only thing everyone knows is the meat dress. I don't know how is the situation in the USA so I'm not going to vote.

For a performance to be memorable it needs more than just a good performance .
Many artists rely on choreography and wardrobe , but it's not the key to a memorable performance .
If you did watch Lady Gaga's performance you'd clearly remember yourself being shocked when she bleed and then 'died' .
People will remember her performance and the thing that made it memorable is the bleeding part , you WILL remember the performance when someone asks you '' OMG do you remember when Lady Gaga bled on stage?! '' and don't deny that , and the fact the you all here remember it just proves you wrong .

Yeah, it's memorable. I don't see how anyone can deny this.
The Kanye West/Taylor Swift incident stole the show, but Germanotta made a statement that night. It made the E!s Memorable Moments of the Decade List in 2010 too, iirc.

This is all very true. You know something memorable happened at the VMAs when it's talked about weeks after it. Such thing didnt happen with Joanne her performance.

No one cares about Lady ****ing Gaga getting people up on their feet during the whole performance and starting to bleed on stage in an award show. I have never seen such nonsense.

It's probably my favourite VMA performance . the vocals were very messy and edited but the performance over all made up for it .
It's amazing , still gives me chills .

Yes, very memorable. Thank you for using that word instead of iconic or something, by the way.

Yes. It's arguably one of her most important moments in her career. The MTV stage is seen by millions around the world and that performance launced Gaga's career. I enjoyed the performance and it was definitely one of the highlights of the night.

Yep! I remember it! It was the second highlight of the night other than Kanye. It goes in the same category as the Britney/Madonna and Gimme More performance

I do sincerely believe only Gaga fans remember this one. Ask anyone in the GP, and they'll go "The only thing I remember from that night is Taylor/Kanye."
I feel like Little Monsters call this performance iconic/memorably only because it was one of her best and was broadcast to a large audience.

It's the complete truth. Sometimes I wonder where the hell you monsters live, no one was talking about Gaga's Paparazzi performance. The only thing that was talked about in reference to Gaga that night was her Phantom of the Opera fashion choices which people thought were weird. Gaga was talked about in the fashion section only, her performance wasn't even referenced. No one talked about her when people bring up the 2009 VMA's in terms of performances Janet, Taylor, Beyonce, Kanye and Jay Z were the most talked about after the VMA's aired. Gaga wasn't. It's as simple as that. I don't know why you are trying so hard to make that performance memorable. She got her moment a year later when she won 13 awards for Bad Romance and sang Born This Way in her meat dress. If you wanted a memorable moment for her that was it. It wasn't her bleeding on stage in 2009 because no one cared about that.

I live in a world called reality. The 2009 Paprazzi performance was not even talked about that night. It wasn't talked about in terms of performances and it wasn't talked about in terms of highlights of the night. No one referenced it. The monsters seem to think everything Gaga does is memorable and that couldn't be further from the truth, in terms of actual facts no one was using that performance by her. She was overshadowed that year easily.
