I hope they follow up their success and not fall into one-hit wonder status because unlike most alternative bands, their album is filled with crossover potential.

I finally picked up the album today.

Well, it turns out Skrillex finally jumped past his #14 peak on Bubbling Under with "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites".

I think "Helena Beat" has potential to be a hit but people/casual fans are fickle sometimes so I hope they're not the next Owl City. =/

Foster The People will go nowhere. I completely see them going the path of a "The Script" or "Owl City." Frankly, I don't know why everyone is rooting so hard for them. Sure, they make alright music and they're indie, but they're not even one of the better Indie pop/rock bands of the year. They're just decent. Yes, my opinion.
Though, I must say, I applaud Nicole for starting up a huge fanbase on here that worship them like gods with the snap of her fingers.

They're already more successful than The Script.

The Script were not a one-hit wonder, their biggest hit was certainly Breakeven, but FTFT reached Top 25 and had great longevity, and Nothing is heading there. I see more of the Owl City path, at this point I'm doubting that Helena Beat will even reach the Hot 100.

That's definitely a possibility. But it won't be the first time someone who isn't too fond of an artist is wrong about their forthcoming demise. Or are awkwardly defensive because they themselves don't like the music. It's just a matter of what people like to listen to.
Anyway, The Script have sustained a rather moderate career following "Breakeven". Owl City hasn't done **** since "Fireflies".

"Helena Beat" has already been hovering in the Top 200 of iTunes. It hasn't been, nor has anything really, confirmed as the next single. Certainly with an adds date following "PUK" peak, it would debut and rise very well. The other possible option is "Don't Stop", which is being promoted on that Nissan commercial - and is also in the Top 500.
Matched with promotion when they appear on SNL, they are bound to get another hit. So trying to knock them down so quickly needs to stop now until a single or two more are released.

I won't say if they will go somewhere or not, but I definitely see this ATRL trend... Some people praise them left and right and, at least based on "Kicks", I think they're barely average.

I really hope Foster The People won't do the Owl City route... Although it's too soon to judge them, let's see how well their next songs/albums do...
Lady Gaga struggled at first and look how big she got. Adele didn't shoot up to commercial success until her 2nd album came out and 2011 turned out to be her year... Let's all just wait

These things are not easy to predict. Boy I remember when everyone thought Rihanna would be a one-hit wonder back in 2005, especially after "If It's Lovin' That You Want" was a semi-bomb, and this is when Ciara was banging out hit after hit. Now Rihanna could be challenging Mariah and even The Beatles for most number ones in the next couple of years.
Foster The People are still new and their sound isn't really "indie." It's very commercial. They have time to prove themselves, even if they don't follow up with another hit from Torches.

It's funny how things change. Back then I don't think anybody would've thought that little island girl Rihanna would be a worldwide superstar and Ciara would have fallen off the map.

Also The Man Who Can't Be Moved is pretty known although it didn't do well chart wise and that's only because the song was already old.

So the Top-5 streak for LMFAO should continue. What is the longest streak?
