People are right, "yas" has been used for a while, but it was Gaga's fan that made it into a meme and launched it into the general public's vocabulary, therefore Gaga and her fans get credit.

Lmao, neither ATRL nor Gaga's fanbase popularized this phrase.
It's been used for years mostly by black drag queens and the black ballroom scene. Along with many other popular gay slang terms.
