My personal favourite video of 2013 is Wrecking Ball. The impact this video had was tremendous. It's emotional, controversial and so iconic, that it just stands out from everything released last year. There is no doubt that 2013 was the year of Miley, and I believe that this video had a great deal in it.

First up, at No. 10 is, in my opinion the best comedy of the year. Usually, I prefer dramas and more serious movies, but The Heat was refreshingly good and funny. It was a close race between The Millers and this one, but at the end my love for Sandra Bullock and the amazing chemistry she had with Melissa Mccarthy won me over.


At number 9 is one of the most anticipated movies for me this year - The Great Gatsby. I just loved how the movie was done - it is something different and unique. I also have to mention the soundtrack which I think was amazing and I love how they actually used it in the movie to create this amazing fusion between old and modern.


Next up, is the first crime thriller in my top 10 - Prisoners. While I feel the movie was a tad bit longer than necessary, I loved the cast and the acting from both Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal was particularly good. If I have to be honest, I didn't expect much from the movie when I went to see it - I though it will be just another thriller with a boring story and big names to build hype but I was wrong. After I saw it, I thought the story was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure it out until the end.


Number 7 goes to one of the years surprises for me - Now You See Me. I didn't really expect much from the trailer, but I was pleasantly surprised. The acting was good, the action was fun and the story was unique and interesting. I loved the twists coming at every second and I thought it was an excellent movie about chase and illusions and overall, very entertaining.


Closing up the lower part of my Top 10 movies of 2013 is the trilling RUSH. I thought it was amazing and I'm glad that I went to see it in the cinema cause the experience was bettered 10 times by the amazing picture and the sound that goes to every single part of your body. Apart from that, the story was incredible, as well, and it wasn't even what I went to see the movie for. It really makes you think about the people around you, who is your friend and who is your enemy and shows that sometimes there is a very thin line between them. Overall, it was a greatly inspiring movie that was amazingly executed technically, as well.

The Great Gatsby

First up in my Top 5 is Captain Phillips. I went to the cinema with high expectations and I was satisfied even more than I thought I would be. The suspense of every moment was on point and made the movie particularly exciting. I think that the fact it was based on a true story made it even more thrilling. I also thought that the ending was exceptional - Tom Hanks played his role amazingly and the last few minutes were a definite highlight for his incredible performance.


I had the opportunity to see this film in the last day of 2013 so this was the last movie I saw for the year and American Hustle just summarised an incredible year for movies in an amazing and equally incredible way. What I loved most about it was the incredible cast - I loved them all. I definitely think that this was the strongest cast and acting of the year - they are just the most talented bunch of people. Jennifer Lawrence, in particular, was exceptional - I felt like they could film her sitting in a chair and it would still make a great movie. She is that great. As for the film, the story was interesting and I loved the twist in the end, but the acting was what made it so great for me.


First up in my Top 3, is another movie that I managed to get access to before its official premiere in the UK and I'm so glad that I did! 12 Years A Slave just hit me so hard. I have never seen a movie about slavery done in such an exceptional way. It was everything that you can expect and then some. It was emotional, touching and so sad that it grabbed my attention and kept it until the end. The acting was, again, exceptional and it made the movie so much better for me. However, contrary to American Hustle it just added to what was an incredible life-story. I cannot help but think why was such an awful thing legal for such a long time... It's just heart-breaking, really.


Just a single spot from the grabbing the title Movie of 2013, comes the second instalment from The Hunger Games movies - Catching Fire. I just loved the movie and I thought it was so much better than the first one, which was still great and my number one movie last year, as well. I feel like they did an incredible job, and apart from a few inconsistencies with the book, depict the most important part of the story pretty well. The only thing I didn't like was the ending which did not explain what happened very well, but it just made me finally read the books which I've been planning to do since last year. I watched it a second time after that and it made so much more sense. Even though I didn't love Mockingjay as much, I still cannot wait to see how the rest of the movies will turn out.

And my favourite movie of 2013 is GRAVITY. I cannot start to explain how much I loved this one. Everything about it is flawless - they built such a huge hype with those amazing trailers, that by the time I went to see it, I already had very high expectations for it. It turned out to be so much more. It was incredibly intense, I was at the edge of my seat most of the time. It's one of those movies that you just HAVE to see on a big screen, cause I saw it later on a smaller one and it didn't impress me as much as the first time when I saw it on IMAX. It was so beautifully done - the scenes of the Earth were just breathtaking. I feel that Sandra Bullock delivered the performance of her career in this one, I can't imagine how incredibly challenging it is to shoot a movie like that. I hope she wins an Oscar for it! When the movie ended I had to remember to breathe again cause for a moment there during the last scenes I almost forgot to. For me, Gravity was more than a movie that you see - it was an experience, that you have to feel to believe.
