The Republican Party is not running on a center-right platform, especially in terms of Canadian politics, and especially in terms of social issues.
It's set out to repeal Roe vs. Wade, enact a federal amendment making same-sex marriage illegal, and strike down Obamacare.
While I'm not well-versed in Canadian politics, I think I can rightfully assume, that as a member of a Canadian center-right party, those social issues don't even come up. They've been non-issues in Canada for years.
So why would you support a candidate who wants to strip back years of reform and social progression? (Unless it's because you want to weaken America, which would make sense, because the country itself needs a slap in the face and a wake-up from all of its arrogance, ignorance, and ******** exceptionalism.)
Not to mention the hyper-Imperialism exuded by the Republican Party -- as someone who isn't American, I don't know how that could sit well with you.
I despise both candidates, I despise the Democratic and Republican Parties, and I really don't like America at the moment. Politically, I often side with the ultra-successful democratic-socialist Scandinavian nations (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland). Why? Because they're ulta-successful. Something's working there.
But the fact of the matter is, neither candidate is going to do anything remarkable with the economy. I'm sick of politicians claiming that it's something that can be easily tamed, let alone by them. What it comes down to this election, at least in my humble opinion, is the social issues. And that's an area where Romney isn't going to cut it.
But screw it all. Everything's coated in fool's gold foil. America is not the great nation it pretends to be, all anyone cares about is oil, and I'm leaving this hell hole as soon as I'm able. I'll move to Iceland and become an anarchist philosopher.
That is all.
