What does this have to do with anything?

We're talking about school shootings, and all you have to do is compare the amount in Europe to the U.S and anyone with common sense will see that there is a clear problem.

I live in London so honestly I don't understand why the US hasn't already followed suit and brought in the same gun laws... shootings happen significantly less here because it's harder to get something to shoot with.

EU may be stupid with many issues, but the guns are banned and things like this don't happen here. It's the most efficient way but the industry in the US is probably too big and the lobby too strong. I mean those shootings are happening all the time and nothing's changed for years

What is the the real issue? There are many issues happening right now. Maybe we can categorize our discussion into two topics. Gun homicide and mass shootings. Ok, lets say a background check is imposed for every single gun sale. Known criminals, will not be able to obtain a gun as easy anymore. Don't you think that would help gun homicides or violence rates go down?

Now with a psychopath who can pass a background check, that's an anomaly in the background check system and it sucks yes. It's horrible and he will obtain his gun just like that. But another mass shooter who does have a history of crime, could possibly be stopped. A background check is a just a barrier. I'm not saying it will stop ALL gun crime. It won't, but it should not be this easy.

You can not compare The UK to the US. You guys don't have the same issues at all?

If that were the case let's compare the US to Switzerland. Both countries are western developed countries that allow guns legally. But one country has a history of violence that has become a culture and the other does not.

Removing guns won't do anything. Well still have shootings, we'll still have gun violence.

Most most of these mass shooting were not known criminals. We already have background checks to block known criminals, and they get their guns illegally. If we did you just said 10 years ago, we would have seen little no change to current events.

Edit: I see he graduated from a special needs high school. So I agree, that should have been a red flag for gun purchase. However, I don't see anything about an actual diagnosis. But that has nothing to do with the gun itself.

The reason why these mentally ill people are able to pass background checks is because they're not required to show proof of medical records all they have to do is answer a couple of questions about their mental state, of course they're not gonna admit to any mental issues. We need REAL background checks that obtain medical records and criminal records.
