I'm wise enough to acknowledge that most of the people here were brought up with outdated Orthodox values and the country I live in is still scarred by communism and Russian influence.

If the person showing homophobic behavior is my friend or relative I always lecture them on tolerance and social activism. If they're one of my old crusty teachers I just shrug and don't bother with them (they'll never concede to me because they think they're old enough and have "life experience", so they're entitled to impose their views on me).
