No, I think Paramount has realized this movie has a huge potential audience.
Why? Because even though JB and Miley had HUGE followings,
they were widely disliked and hated my a good portion of the public
Katy, on the other hand, she's in just the right spot not because she has a sizable stanbase (which is actually getting larger and larger), but because she's such a household name, and a lot of people are here for her even if they aren't a hardcore fan. Look at how many twitter followers she has. She doesn't have that many stans, but she has a huge amount of support and casual fans who just might make the trip to the theater because she interests them just enough.
To sum it all up, let's put it in context. If I polled my friends, perhaps say 10 out of 100 would go see a JB or Miley movie. But if it was a movie about Katy and her tour (which was one of the biggest and most widely attended in 2011) that number would probably be more like 25-35 people out of 100. Maybe more.
