But she wasn't succesful like you said while Britney is the biggest teen pop star ever. That's probably why most people don't connect the dots between the two and why Janet's obsessive stans do what you are currently doing in this thread. The only era thematically and visually reminiscent of Janet is
Britney, and even then it's very different sonically speaking.
You spoke about "If" earlier but slave reminds me more of Paula's"Cold Hearted Snake" with its very sexual choreo and dynamic than "If" which is pretty tame in comparison.

Everytime is comparable because both are piano ballads about the same subject and have similar videos. The song is most likely inspired by Janet's since its written about JT and that's one of his favorite Janet songs, so it makes sense that the video also used inspiration from her. Part of it also uses similar scenes to another one of Janet's videos also.

Janet's "Everytime" = Looking sexy and vulnerable in a water, blue colored, scenery. Britney's "Everytime" = Being hit in the head py a paparazzi, fighting with her boyfriend, passing out in her bathroom, dreaming of reincarnation after walking in the white scenery of an hospital and waking up. You're right, both videos are identical!

And? That's a short article about one album in particular and barely mentions anything. I could list receipts for days on Britney and the rest being influenced by that album and tour alone but I won't.

Then do it, what you're waiting for? But if those are the same receipts claiming the dancers coming from a roof in "Circus" were inspired by "If" when it's basically Circus 101...

Olivia wasn't blacklisted, people just lost interest. Janet was still slaying up until it happened. It's not a comparable situation in any way, stop reaching.

Again, I disagree. The sex album
Damita Jo was overkill after the Superbowl and would have still underperformed even without the blacklisting. Remember that it was around that time, Whitney, Mariah & Madonna all flopped hard on the charts and the new wave of pop girls were replacing the previous one. Just like Olivia with Janet, Madonna & Cyndi. Both could have slowed down the process a bit if they had released more "conventional" albums.
