I kinda agree with this. For a decade straight (plus TMB), all of Mariah's lead singles went #1 on the Hot 100. There's no way Obsessed, which has been clearly promoted as the lead, can be excused as a promo single. If it doesn't improve, it'll be a called flop.
Britney used a single from her last album as a promo, now shes using it as an official single.

it was announced as a single then cancelled because Britney was in the studio making "Circus". It was only released again because Jive had a contract with the producers.

WTF. Aside from the fact that all singles are supposed to be PROMOTE to the album, Radar was the *cancelled* 4th, I mean, FOURTH single of Blackout. Then it was released as the 4th single of Circus. :-/
How does that even compare to Obsessed, which is still a FIRST single of a non-released album?
The album's delay is inevitable. She's still in the studio recording, how can she finish the album and put it out next month ?

On Twitter she confirmed that she's almost finished up with the album. If she releases this in September then she's not up for any Grammy Nominations
If it's because she hasn't finished the album, then I would understand. I would rather the album be somewhat not rushed rather than having five songs that she recorded in 10 minutes just to meet the deadline ...

Why not? Most artists use a buzz or promo single on I-Tunes leading up to their albums being released. We already knew that she didn't want this as the first song to be released from the album, but she couldn't pass it up ... so I would say that it's more or less of a promo single.

Well what would she get? She wasn't going to sweep anything with "Obsessed" and 3 days to review her album would be irrelevant. I'd honestly want to see the success for 2009-2010 and she can do it big in 2011 Grammy's.

Well, I'm not sure about nowadays, but back in the 80's/90's people used to finish albums recording sessions even DAYS before the release. Michael Jackson is an example.

@ "Obsessed" being a buzz single. Two weeks ago some people were calling it her 19th #1.
