Taylor is one of those artists who is generally harmless. People don't really mind her because she is so PG-13, very easily digestible and inoffensive. Her songwriting is very basic and easy to understand. There's no two ways about her lyrics, they are very linear and lack any sort of depth, which makes her very easy listening and radio friendly. Unfortunately none of it is impact. Just success.

I'm not even shading he because I can give her credit where it's duer- but from my POV she was not big here in the UK until Red. She had a few hits prior to that and her album probably sold well but she wasn't on anyone's radar until Red.

Where as Adele was big from the get-go so there is no way that Taylor opened any doors here that Adele didn't already. In fact Amy Winehouse was the pioneer for the modern heartbreak album.
