Well "Mr. Know It All" could also apply to a friend, boss, family member, etc. Like Kelly has said her songs are about relationships in general. But it's easier to reach a broader audience if it's more like a dating relationship. Like "Ready", "Impossible", "Whyyawannabringmedown" she's mentioned those were more targeted toward people at the label, but they could also be seen as her talking to a boyfriend.
Every artist is known for their sound and topics. Like Beyonce is known for her girl empowerment songs, Taylor Swift about her relationships, Kesha about party/clubs, and so on.
Plus, there's always gonna be young adults/teens that just got dumped for the first time and needs a good break up song to help them get over it, lol. That will always be a universal topic, hehe.
