I don't mean this as shade, but she was literally humping an inflatable orca while scantily dressed in her first music video. And as if Poker Face and LoveGame shy away from typical representations of beauty
All her early performances and interviews featured her made to look somewhat edgier and artiser than your average girl, but still firmly within the realm of "hot pop star". Bad Romance was really the first time she was playing around with the grotesque (which, to her credit, is pretty unique for a mainstream pop star) but she was still styled to look conventionally beautiful in several scenes like the auction part.
