They called them units, not records
Records = Albums + Singles.
Units is records samething diff words
Lets say Christina A. sold 400,000 untis in the first week thats the samething as copies

Isn't the artist the one that has to do with the music? And if we are going by your biography issue, people know about that artist through their music, the music is what got them interested in that artist and their life and would like to see more of them. Obviously in a documentary like that they will include their music and talk about it.
No, by how many copies of the video are sold, you can get the DVD of a single video with remixes of songs (well not so much anymore) or get them digitally on iTunes, amazon and so on.

The definition of a record is actually a data storage device that specifically stores audio data (singles, albums)... DVD's are visual data...

No since there is a different chart and category for those, but we do include soundtracks if the artist is highly involved in it.
So for Beyonce the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack would count as in her total sales, but not the "Cadillac Records" one.
Would like to know the source, but if all of this is true, I'm just dubmfounded by how the Mariah fans make it seem like she's the best selling female artist of all time and is so far ahead of Whitney Houston.

Well digital sales are included in this but as far as records, DVD's still aren't... they count as units which is different than records... it even says what is counted in the first post lol...
If overall units were included then the DVD sales of all the artists on the list would be and there totals would be different than they are now since this list is just strictly about records... it's not a big deal anyway just pointing out
