Right, girl they aint fooling me. EVERYONE on that stage was screaming, or trying to be Aretha including Florence (whom I love) but there is NO ****ING WAY you can tell me Fantasia shouldn't have sang Think in her place.
Sis, if you're arguing that Fantasia should have received Jennifer's spot, I can concede.
But there was no way that was happening, Jennifer is by far the biggest star.
You say this but you complain that some of the singers that were a part of the tribute should have been replaced by people that actually listened to and admire Aretha Franklin. Do you know who those performers admire, who they listen to? You know, it's sometimes a good thing to remember what you said 10 minutes ago before you contradict yourself.
When you're done I am more than sure Florence and Martina or whatever her name is did not grow up admiring Aretha as much as Fantasia did. #fact
Jennifer held her own and so did Florence (who was a shocker). Nobody needs Fantasia acting a monkey at the Grammys.
Fantasia performs outlandishly, which I like, yet she knows when to compose herself. She knew if she had performed at the Grammy's, she couldn't take off her shoes, ad lib like in church, or walk in the crowd like she does at her live shows.
I loved what the Grammys did, by "diversifying" the women, it showed the TRUE impact of Aretha. Five minutes of J-Hud and Fanty screaming at each other is better suited to the Lady of Soul Awards.
These kids can't seem to comprehend so I'm reposting this. Maybe the second time will help that brain grow!!
Yeah, a Monica/Fantasia/Kelly Price/insert soul singer's name lineup would have been suitable for a BET Awards tribute, but not the GRAMMYs. Having women of different backgrounds and genres singing and paying tribute to the Queen showed her true impact as a legend/icon.
I wanna make sure you keep that same vision when it's time to honor someone like Madonna or freaking Allison Kraus and they grab Mya and Khia to do the tribute.
Hooligan and Sats, like I said, if you're angry with a singer being in Fantasia's spot, you need to direct that towards Jenny - no one else is comparable. There was only ONE slot for an R&B singer; NARAS went with the bigger name.
I expect there to be some friction in that friendship.

Yeah, that's a great comparison. *sarcasm* I would have issue with those artists simply because they're not talented enough to do pay tribute to those artists. And Mya would actually be a good addition to a Madonna tribute. She did Janet justice.

One problem with that analogy - Mya and Khia haven't been relevant since 2002.
Martina, and more to the point, Florence, very much ARE now. The least relevant person on that stage, honestly, was Christina - but she is CHRISTINA AGUILERA.

She seems to forgot how to perform without jukin & jivin for masta's attention and doing those tired ass church squalls. When she goes back to American Idol Fantasia then the Grammys and white people will use her and invite to perform at the more prestigous events. Until then, DEAL WITH IT!! I love Tasia but after she desecrated Chaka's classic, I can't with her and that monkey business.
Jennifer deserves her chance to shine. Don't hate, congratulate!!!
