no ****, that's my point. Just like the fact that AIWFCIY is a Christmas song has nothing to do with the fact that it's more iconic than any song Whitney put out.

Really people think that Whitney had more obstacles cause she was black? Seriously? Her way was already paved with roses since her whole family was in the recording business and all of them extremely successful. Noone said that she didnt have the talent or that she became famous because of them. It was just easier for her.... Was she poor like Mariah? Did you know that sometimes Mariah didn't even have money for her FOOD!?! Don't play the "black" card on me cause Mariah is half black and half white and that was even more difficult for her life since people could tolerate black people in the late 70s-80s but not so much the interracial relationships and their children since they were considered outcasts from the black and the white communities together.

I was thinking about how many Mariah songs I know a while ago and the only one that came to my mind is Without You. Funny because I used to be a fan of Mariah when I was small, but now I cant even remember how her songs you listed sound.
Maybe because Im from Europe and Mariah is quite irrelevant here for like 15 years.
Yet they still play Whitney and The Bodyguard is on TV at least once in a year, so there is many Whitney songs that come to mind

Mariah had alot more cultural impact than Whitney.. 2 generation (or more) based on her Vocal style.. Ofc some of it came from whitneys impact over mariah but mariah DID MAKE IT A STANDARD on pop Culture! She make cross overs between Pop And RnB and make it the Default the current. most singers are influenced by Mariah than Whitney. Because Mariah Vocaly is far superior than whitney.maybe not tone(although thats debatable) wise but everything else.
And Because she had all the connections in her family had the best headstart... what was best advertisment? be Arethas God Daugheter and Diones cousin with Great voice..?Or being the little new discover of a new president of a company? and Whitney being a Black woman was alot easier than being a Mixed woman,

No, it's not. Mariah passes for a white woman. Mariah has never in her entire life experienced the same disadvantages as black women. Are you stupid?

Then you know Nothing about Mariah's struggles of being a mixed girl/Woman... Whitney had none of these issues... and never impacted her Life nor her Career.. While Mariah's Life and many Song she wrote were about that issue of not fit anywhere because she was mixed!

Whitney was BLACK. Mariah looked and passed for a white woman. Are you dense? Do you even know the issues black women in the 80s music/mtv faced before Whitney?

Mariah's 16 week #1, iconic Loverboy discount, BEST COMEBACK EVER with Emancipation, iconic fall with Glitter, I mean....
Isn't it obvious? (Every single she released 1990-2000, not one flop, not even an underperformance)
I mean it's obvi Whitney is prob more iconic as a PERSON, but as a CAREER she had nothing OUTSTANDING outside of the Bodyguard era.

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" will be played on Radio, TV, and Internet more then "The Bodyguard" every single year, and for the rest of time.
That song alone will eventually surpass anything Whitney has done in her music career, that "One Sweet Day" and "We Belong Together" already haven't!

Mariah has outsold Whitney in Singles.
Mariah has outsold Whitney in albums.
Mariah has sold more than Whitney period.
Mariah has more #1's.
Mariah set more records.
So I'm confused to as why Whitney would have a more iconic career.

It isn't. Just because it's more convenient for recurrent airplay doesn't make it more known.
The majority of her #1 songs were flops outside of the US. Whitney maintained her global edge for a while, whereas Mariah only had two global eras throughout her entire career. Whitney has more global songs than Mariah does.

And still managed to outsell Whitney despite having a limited career, so how is her career not more iconic?

Your point? Record sales have nothing to do with it. There are dozens of artists who have sold just as much, some even more, than Mariah, and still are not eligible for being iconic.
Whitney is admired more as a vocalist, and her material is more recognizable.
