But now read this:
Mariah Carey is a good exemple for this...she stopped many time and probably was the best comeback in 2005, and now Britney probably will do the same!
PLease think, now before u say the things!

Does it matter? This thread has four pages debating if the career is over. Technically there would be no need for discussion but it continues so I would say that she's fine.

Even with the drugged out TRL appearence, Mariah never went through the massive public embarrassment that Britney has been on and continues to make worse with each passing day. She's basically a running joke now.
Could she make a comeback? possibly, but I doubt it. The looks that got guys into her are gone, and she doesn't have the talent to reinvent herself musically like Madonna and XTina have done.
I doubt she'll totally disappear - she'll release an album, the singles will probably get decent airplay, but I suspect the album will be only a moderate success and will struggle to go platinum. Yes, she's still a big name, but its only because of her antics outside of music now.

Mariah never went through massive public embarassment? Where were you by 2001?
And a Britney album struggling to go platinum? Now we have the biggest joke of this thread.
I won't even comment what you said about Madonna and Christina, that's useless.Get a life. :-/

well back in 2001 britney was banned from clear channel corp. that means hthat 90% of the radio channels weren't playing britney music, and well her label pretty suck at paying payola in order to overplay a song..nevertheless with single sales she could manage a top 11 with stronger and From the bottom of my broken heart[the first one sold 500K copies in the us and the last sold 1 million singles just in the usa] her last hit was Do something' that charted at 100 , not becaus of radio, was because of digital sales even when the song wasn't a oficcial release and the album was pretty dead by then
Explanation: if britney would had usher/maria/beoynces overplaying songs due to the payola, her album would sold at least 2 times that it did

I'm just jumping into the conversation, so this could have already been said...
but, all her albums have drastically decreased in sales, one after the other.

I guess the point is some people only see what appeals better to their "opinion", Mazen. Oh, God.

No, I'm not a Britney 'hater,' I'm allowed to have a negative opinion about her.
Generally your right, most album sales are down, but with Britney, every album sells less than the one before it. At least with other artists, they have some albums that sell better than previous ones, the amount they sell goes up and down. Britneys seems to just be going down and down.
Who knows, maybe she'll pull it off, but I dont think its likely.

^god dammit. i thought i was done with this thread. over the years a lot of artists haven't sold more than their previous. you are not even specifying an artist you're just saying "other artists". It's pretty obvious Christina won't sell 4 million w/ B2B, when Stripped sold 4 million, which was less because her debut sold 8 million. Justin at this point will pass 3 million that Justified sold. Janet has been declining since 1993. Gwen Stefani will obviously not sell more than the 3.8 mil LAMB did. I'm naming the big time artists because what you're saying makes no sense.
Yes Brit's sales have declined but there are reasons why. Well in the 90s sells were huge anyways. When Oops! came she showed a little more sensuality with the red leather in Oops vid, the sexual antics is Stronger <333, Lucky was clean, and then of course the provocative DLMBTLTK video <333. She lost a lot of her young fans for the change. Then 2001-2002 hits and her sales go from 10 million to 4 million, this is due of course of the highly sexual Britney album. Slave, Overprotected, + Boys all showed a sense of a sexual change so add that with sales starting to decline. Then ITZ just sold 3 million, but if she had continued to promote it, unfortunately the bad knee + meeting Kevin ruined it, it would've gone to sell equally to Britney. But this album also showed maturity as a woman and her true feelings. And then 1.3 million for a greatist hits album in 2004 is pretty amazing to me so that drop didn't matter. Especially since the two singles released from it both flopped. And then no one gave a **** about the remix album. So now she can clean up her act which she has already started to do very well with and comeback with a big album.
Reminder: (US)
Album 1 = 125K / 14M
Album 2 = 1.3M / 10M
Album 3 = 746K / 4.5M
Album 4 = 609K / 3.1M
Album 5 = 255K / 1.3M (GH)
Album 6 = 14K / 100K
Album 7 = ????
After not having a real album in over 3 years fans and others will be anxious and she'll probably sell around the same as ITZ if not better. Also with the huge drop from '00 to '01, she changed her style of music so the ppl who liked her might've liked the bubblegum pop music she did, but come out with hip-hop songs it changes.

I said she never went through as much embarrassment as Britney has. With Britney it's a daily thing now, because she goes out just about every night and makes herself look dumber than she did the night before.
Yeah, Mariah had a movie that was critically panned and a joke to pretty much everyone, but so did Britney.
When I look at Britney's next album.. I look for it to get the kind of success that Mariah Carey's Charmbracelet had. Moderate success on radio, struggles to sell platinum. Mariah is one of the greatest voices of our generation and was able to overcome those setbacks with talent.. Britney can't.
In The Zone sold 3 million copies and that was four years ago, Britney's career has taken a huge nosedive since then and so have american record sales. It's not that far fetched to think her album will struggle to sell well.

All had its reasons. "Britney" came just after 9/11, and right when album sales dropped drastically + her Clear Channel ban; "ITZ" only had 3 singles, and she barely promoted the album in the US in 2004 - worldwide she stopped promoting by the time Everytime was released and a tour DOESN'T sell albums. Then, she released a stupid GH (that usually sells zero in the US), and we ALL know she didn't even care about doing a damn new photoshoot for the album. The Remixes album I won't even comment. Do you see my point here?
Well, I'm sorry but I have to say this: every Aguilera album also sold less than the one before it (same with Alicia Keys). Why isn't anyone talking about that? Because it's easier and more controversial to talk, especially talk BAD, about Britney. Nobody's news sells newspapers, magazines and whatsoever like Britney's does.

There were rumors about Mariah trying to commit SUICIDE and then checking in a psychiatric clinic. Do you really think that's not worst than Britney getting "drunk" or not using underwear? :-/
If you wanna compare Britney's 'flop movie' with Glitter, first you go check Box Office numbers, for example, and then you come back here.
Charmbracelet had MODERATE SUCCESS on radio? Are you HIGH? Well, maybe at your own radio station. Oh, and btw, Mariah singles weren't doing well on radio since 1997. She only recovered with WBT. Britney's singles never were that huge on radio, and after all she never needed airplay to sell albums.
