Calling music by some pop girls generic /=/ music made by women in general being generic.
You'd think you would be able to understand that without some pulling the sexism card.
And let's be honest it's ok to stan pop girls but none of them are making anything we haven't heard before especially when it comes to Dr Luke. But some female pop singers do make some great tunes and at the end of the day if you enjoy it then that's all that matters.
Don't be so threatened and discuss it instead of taking potshots at the OPs sig it's an unintelligent way of a defense.

This entire thread is an ugly generalization but if I had to answer I'd say for these reasons:
1. Male vocals are often very hoarse and not too appealing to the ears. While as pop vocals are intended to be easy on the ears. This isn't a bad thing. It's the reason why Heavy Metal will never take off like pop or Urban. It's too loud.
2. Male artists can be very homophobic. They throw the F word (the slur) around like a Frisbee. While as pop girls sing anthems to empower the LGBT community.
3. Male artists sing about woman exclusively a lot of the time. Look at RnB. Almost every RnB song you'll hear, whether underground or maibstream, features lyrics like "Oh baby girl..." That is both unrelatable and boring.
4. Pop girls make the biggest effort to be boundary pushing. When was the last time you saw a male artist in a meat suit? Or nude on a wrecking ball? Or making videos like BBHMM?
5. Everyone loves generic pop sometimes. Some more than other. I, for exmaple, don't like most of the generic pop stars very much but I still happily sing along to Blank Space and Teenage Dream. But I don't sjng along to Roar. But some stans like all three songs. It's just some people like pop more than others. And you can try being as hipster like as you want but you probably bop to pop songs once in a while

1. Is subjective and for the most part not true which is ironic considering you're talking about generalizations. I can name plenty of male singers who's voices are soothing to listen to depending on the artist and genre.
And metal has been very popular for decades and bands like Metallica,Iron Maiden,W.A.S.P etc will tell you otherwise as their success says it all. Don't let your preferences cloud your judgement.
2. Your bias is showing again and this is hardly true for lots of male artists out there and some embrace their gay fans and acknowledge them. This isn't a legitimate reason to say why you prefer a pop girl over a male artist.
3. You have a point with R&B but females talk about their man in that genre too it's called rhythm and blues for a reason. That still doesn't account for all the other artists and genre's out there.
4. Some consider that attention seeking others don't and why should a male do these things to gain attention? their music speaks for itself.
5. This is true rather we like to admit it or not we all bop to a pop song every now and then.
You're mistaking the OPs post as not liking pop in general and calling him a hipster without knowing his musical choice history is ill informed.
