Afansieff and Carey came up with a couple different versions of "Hero" in the studio. "There was a simple performance on tape and a more difficult one with Mariah singing out more, with more licks. But we chose a happy medium".

They always had ha holding back on vocals in the studio. When da **** ha RAW "I Will Always Love You" type versions gonna leak.

When recording "Emotions" they also didn't want her to use full ability, so her vocals wouldn't be a gimmick
