If we're being technical the melody does not make sense harmonically, meaning it doesn't go where it should. Which means that it was probably not written by being sung (if you're making up a melody by ear it will make sense by intuition), probably just played around on a piano and wrote it that way (don't know if that would interest you).
I don't like repetition in melodies unless it's a novel thing. In this melody, repetition is prominent and ****s with the melodic fluency. The "mirroring" you're talking about is called a sequence. I'm looking at it from a classical perspective and saying it's ****. From a pop perspective, it's exactly what people would want to hear. The sequence (we sayin..) is an elongated rhythm compared to it's origin (I wanna scream). That's common in pop music and I don't like common because there is no point to composing the same thing over and over. Other than accessibility which is the only purpose of pop music.
Even if you don't know much about composition, look at the patterns in that video and come to a realization on how easy they are to follow.
