Thats being said, I think we're still in it for most of the year with BTW. It will also continue to sell throughout the new album release, ala The Fame(M) with BTW release.
A successful era this was, for sure. "We" have had some rough patches here and there, but we're still in the game.

Album sales are not the real problem - almost 6 million records sold, how is this a bad result?
The problem is the effect this era is having on her image and on her overall perception by the public.
All this said, I'm going to the gym. See you later

I doubt it will win, but god would it be great if we're all not expecting her to win and BAM... "Lady Gaga, Born This Way"
To be nominated 3 times in a year is an amazing achievement in itself, for a female popstar.

I try not to be deluded with my post, and for the most part they are not. I'm keeping it real, for "Gaga" and her peak with TF(M) these numbers would have been atrociousness. But lets get real here, shes peaked and peaked very high, or in a very good place. If all her next albums sell like BTW, BTW being the standard for her albums... imagine
6M+ an album
Yes, shes had some **** up moments this era, and mostly ripped apart and neglected the General Public, but this album wasn't entirely made with the GP in mind. You can go back and see some of her earlier interviews were she speaks about this.
We, the die hard Gaga fans were more than satisfied with her album, I think her goal was met.

One thing you must know about the General Public,
They care for you one minute and the next minute they are chanting Chris Brown lyrics while viewing Selena Gomez videos on youtube(on mute). They don't have any attachment to any particular artist. The General Public is fickle, very fickle they build you and break you. Lady Gaga isn't broken, not when she has the media on her side. Media CRAVES them some Gaga.
Lady Gaga peaked, the state of her career is normal. bookmark this post, Adele will NOT match 21's success with her next album.

And this is the problem ( At least I think...) music is for EVERYONE. Since it feels like 'Born This Way' is mostly only for her fans ... I mean it's not a bad thing.. But she must focus a little on what the public wants. TF(M) has a music that general public can listen to AND ALSO the fans.. I can't say the same thing about BTW ( And probably even TF)...

Since I have a sinking feeling about charting, Gaga should go the controversial route for promo and success.
Americano, Bloody Mary, Scheisse, Government Hooker.
(and HML, Hair as smashes tech.)
The headlines she'd make with all of the controversy would be memorable.
---
Edit: For the Gaga's image has been damaged posts: The general public has always thought Gaga was weird and never looked to her as another glamour girl. There's not much lost there.

I would have a meltdown of happiness if we were pleasantly surprised by Gaga winning AOTY.
I know it's a small chance but let me remain hopeful.

I won't be surprised if she wins, 21 is selling like crazy, but that doesn't mean it's the best album of 2011.

It would be a day written into the history books of ATRL.
The amazing meltdowns
The jubilation
The "Oh but the Grammys aren't even credible anymore" excuses

What seems to be your problem then, or the point of this post, what does it all lead back to?
Her not pulling Adele numbers? Or is it the "music" you're looking into? I'm sure atleast 50% of those albums sales come from the General Public. So she has managed to sill have support from her fanbase and the general public, things are just more balanced now that her star isn't shining as bright as it use to. Which is NORMAL for her and the brand.

And the meltdowns if 'Loud' is the best album.. ( I know it has a verrry small chance. But, who knows ??)...

'21' still have the biggest chance. The second one is 'Born This Way'.

It'd be amazing for BTW to win Album of the Year, although 21 is better in my opinion.

Her ego will explode if she wins the Grammy that she lost with TF and TFM.
If she wins, the next album will be a BTW 2.0
And I'm not here for that
