A friend of mine forwarded me the tumblr of someone who goes to her uni. Basically saying that AATB is centered around the ideal that curvy women are the only types of women who are authentic and that anyone who does not meet that criteria are not worthy or being loved or noticed. In that same essay, the person wrote that it does nothing to attribute or positively portray women that are naturally/genetically underweight and struggle with gaining weight.
Personally, I think it's rubbish. It reminds me of the people who complained and wrote essays on tumblr that "The Normal Heart" didn't shed light on lesbians and their community's struggles with HIV/AIDS in the 90's. And therefore it was misogynistic. No one is discrediting or pretending that lesbians were not impacted by the virus. It's just simply not
their story. Meghan had good intentions with the song, but why does she need to be inclusive of every single marginalized group of women?
