I'm sorry to say this, but it's peer pressure. People buy whatever their friends buy. Most teenage males don't buy CD's from a male R&B singer, because "it's not cool", so instead they buy the rapper's CD like Kanye, Jay, and Weezy.

Ok, I can, of course, accept and understand the opinion of you both. Still, I have to say I'm gonna be VERY surprised if Lil Wayne manages to sell anything over 500k, let alone 1 million.

Anybody who sells 900+ in the first week these days has a strong fanbase. Usher has a fanbase to but hip hop fans are much stronger.

Kanye's conditions were not normal. He wouldn't have sold that much without the big ego fight with 50 Cent.

I did not say that. :-/ I just said he wouldn't have sold 900k. He could have easily done 600k, even 700k. But it's not possible you can deny both him and 50 **** benefited big from the controversy!!

Not many women singers or rappers have huge sales now of days except the recent sales from Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys. Not to mention yes the hip hop heavyweights sell the most now of days (Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Jay-Z in the 1st Tier) and Tha Carter III is the most anticipated album since 50's follow up The Massacre (unfortunately)

Agree. Hip Hop sells the most albums now a days. It's obvious to see that.

Where's the "AS IF"? That's my post, I said he would not have sold over 900k without the 'little' help of his ego battle with 50 Cent. Never said he wouldn't have big numbers.
