Still not impressed with the UI. I mean, it's nice, it's clean, but it's not suitable for a Simulation game like this at all.
It was suitable for SimCity as that game had a lot more functionalities. This is completely different. Also, the UI scales too small on higher resolutions, which makes it harder for me to read the Time of Day and the interactions menu because of the white background and how small it is.
Anyone noticed any UI scaling options in the game?

Is it a good or bad rating compared to what you'd give the Sims 2 or 3 base game, though?

I've spent the past hour+ playing the game! At first I was horrified. All I seen was simplistic **** everywhere and it felt too bare, more than I was used to with anything. Take note before reading I haven't played TS3 in years, so I might mistake some "new" features as old ones.
With time, I got used to it. The world is more full of life (despite limitations of only being able to move within a certain block of the neighbourhood) and level of detail is shocking considering how easy the game is people compared to TS3. Willow Creek's sister neighbourhood 'Oasis Springs' was a bit more boring than the former, but both are very detailed and since I've yet to explore a lot of the place, I'm assuming I'm in for more surprises and subject to change of opinion.
Social interactions are the biggest surprise. They're more prominent and important than ever from what I have noticed. I used to always use social interacts as a means to an end (hooking ha up) and spam clicking "Chat", "flirt", etc but now you have to pay attention to the conversation to get the best out of it, one of my conversations took a horrific turn as one of the sims felt awkward and it was affecting their relationship progress as a result of the discussion. You can pick different things to talk about as a result, etc. It's very surprising and brings some freshness into such a feature that I've mindlessly taken advantage of over the years. It doesn't really cripple you, though. If you like to give commands and skip forward, you still can, but you have less opportunities with conversations and emotions, etc.
CAS is just as it was before from the demo, clothing options are much bigger than the demo and the tools within this feature help you craft some amazingly detailed Sims. Hair options are much better than base game TS2 and TS3 from what I remember. So props to that.
Build/Buy mood is smooth and flawless! Feels better than ever and the fact you can pick up rooms, etc means it ***** over your fav Sims titles!
Aside from this, there's still some missing features and the game does feel bare at times, and I admit to missing them and hope for their return but it still has the CORE Sims experience that I remember from playing from YEARS AGO. If you fell in love with that experience then I doubt you'll have any issues with loving this game (I'm betting that the majority of TS4 haters - who own the game - are new sims fans w/ TS3 ) You can definitely feel TS2 vibes from this game and I feel that Maxis can unleash the game's full potential within patches and EP's some great content to expand the game and hopefully surpass that game.
I still miss the detailed UI from the previous games and think that the "organised" look is a bit too much with this game. Needs should be able to be pinned atleast. I shouldn't have to click them when I want them, how am I supposed to know if she needs ha pee time.
The Sims look much better, I agree!

I agree with all of your points.
The simplicity is both refreshing and annoying at the same time. It's nice having a "clear" screen, but having to navigate to all of the sections (especially needs) is kind of annoying at times. Until you get used to the features and sections, it's hard to locate some things.
I must say that the multitask feature is one of my favorite things about Sims 4. I love that you can watch TV and talk (like, have actual conversations that you control), eat and read, etc at the same time. It's nice not having to wait for the next action to appear on the queue. And the fact that you can have a conversation with 5 people at once is so cool.
With the expansion packs, they'll undoubtedly work out the flaws and missing features, but I also feel like that was intentional and am not sure how to feel about it.

Based on first impressions, I'd say Sims 2 was an 8-8.5 and Sims 3 was around a 7 or 8. But I was so Sims deprived when I played Sims 3 that I overrated it. This is definitely better than Sims 3.

Completely agree. It's very conflicting.

Ikr? The best thing about it is how seamless controlling Sims has now become. Like you said, we used to wait till the action-queue was subsequently acted out, but now these Sims can do so many things at once (My sim was washing the dishes, putting away food and moving whilst talking to ha friend whom was on the couch! ). It feels so smooth and quick.

I was speaking to a friend about this and we agreed about this point. I feel as if they intentionally make base game's as bare as possible (they could've easily have delayed TS4, lbr) just to excuse pushing all of the good content into EP's. I never purchased most of TS3 EP's so I'm totally undecided on whether or not I will commit to purchasing these or not obtaining through other means

My scores would be the same. The Sims 2 was the best experience for me too, but The Sims 3 felt very fresh when I played it. It was basically an open world version of TS2 without some the eccentric features thrown in, but both were great (TS3 still had some wacky stuff in it, tho).
I don't really want to rank TS4 against them, personally, yet. I've had such great fun with these titles in the past, it feels disrespectful to put them down or harshly criticise TS4 so quickly. Imma wait a few days and garner my thoughts before making any concrete-ish opinions on this game compared to the other ones.

Alessa Vittori.
I used the Maxis-sponsored Sim, Diana Wallace, as a base, but I changed her. Sofia Vergara was also an inspiration, but she sort of became her own thing. :michael

What should I do in-game? I'm not bored but I don't know if I should do anything too serious or wait until the real fun stuff starts getting released.

I need some help. I'm thinking of buying the game from the Origin store, I know a lot of people in here have mentioned something about a Mexican Origin store that is a lot cheaper? I'm from Australia and they're selling it in-store for $90.00 and that is just ridiculous, and their is absolutely no way I'm spending that much. Am I able to purchase from the Mexican store if I am from Australia? And it also isn't available to buy in Australia until tomorrow, but I have 2 days off, so it would be nice to squeeze some time in. Can anyone help?

Yes you just need to use a Mexican proxy/VPN when you order it. It'll be in your normal Origin account after that. There are free VPN extensions for Chrome available.

Yesterday at first, I got all frustrated with the new look and I was demanding a refund. But last night, I let myself play the game again and I realized just how much more interesting gameplay is now that there's more simplicity. It actually flows a lot better and the whole day-to-day seems a lot more lively.
Also, it actually takes a lot more effort to form the relationships you want for your Sim (unless it's already done in CAS). For some Sims, you have to actually build up the effort whereas if Sims have something in common, they form a more natural rapport. Not saying it's hard for two uncommon Sims to get along - but it is harder if they don't share similar traits. I cancelled my refund request last night. I think people are doing too much on it because it is a different experience to TS3 but I think it has a lot more potential to provide a Sims experience that is based more on personalities and the actual social aspect of the Sims.

I only cancelled my pre-order because it's not available for Mac with launch
I had the premium edition pre-ordered too.. but there will the same editions when it launches for Mac anyway
It does seem like the game play will be better more simplified too.

This guide shows how to buy it through the Mexico store, it's 34.99$ there instead of $60.00. Doesn't even take 3 minutes and it really works.
I don't think there's anything wrong with me posting the link, right? Since it's in no way illegal.
