The song is not really "into people's faces" much, so it might get a boost + new peak when the video comes out. Don't lose hope.
Even if it doesn't help the song, we'll still enjoy the video, which I'm sure will be stunning.

she needs to release new single (Gypsy) right before Grammy performance to make a big impact that night. If DWUW had a video already shot I would release it. Otherwise I would just let it die.

You have all placed too much emphasis on this video.
The problem is Gaga herself. The public are over her in her current state. Brand reinvention is required. She is fortunate that she is not in Justin Bieber's position which is of in-reconcilable standing with the general public. However, there will reach a point where she goes beyond the point of no return.
She needs to detach herself from any producer she has ever worked with in the electro-pop field/dance music market and look to create an album, that like The Fame in 2008 and The Fame Monster in 2009, precedes the music market trend to come (urban-pop), something that suits her remarkably well.
She should be working with Darkchild, Danja, Pharrell, maybe Max Martin and salvage this career.

I think you too much emphasize on sales. The biggest problem for me this era is that NOTHING has been properly planned. Promo single gets great sales the night it is out (cause of presales of the album) so why not scrap the 2nd single and release it instead ? Like wtf ? She should hire capable manager who will reduce her powers in marketing and image a bit.

If Gypsy became the 3rd single, can we call Gypsy the 2nd Official Single since DWUW have no video? Is it possible? And maybe re-release DWUW as the 4th Official Single or 5th single with a proper video?

Gaga said the video is "late". That obviously means there WILL be a video.

11. LADY GAGA - Do What U Want f/R. Kelly: 88.056 (+ 0.502) ▲ (+1) It's a good update comparing to others. But i don't think we'll reach the top10 again because TEAM and Dark Horse are coming.

The people listed have proved time and time again that they are versatile urban-pop producers. (aside from Max Martin but he is the most versatile producer of our time after all). Plus, the sound is something Gaga seems to have not adopted somewhat with that of Do What U Want.
Gaga needs to ditch everyone and everything. She needs a new manager, new make-up artist, new stylist, new wig person, new producers, new directors. Everything. That is the only way she can beat this career downturn.
She has everything going for bar the humbleness to know when she is wrong and the ruthlessness to remove people who are actually doing her damage. Like lets face it, Troy should have been removed by August 2011.

a. if gaga made an album like this, it wouldn't really be ahead of the game because its already coming back. Gaga should really give the people what they want and make an authentic rock album; something that is undeniably mature and masterful and feels instantly classic. is she capable of that with her songwriting abilities?
b.she's worked with darkchild. and HELL no to max martin unless you want generic.

Electro pop was going to happen in 2009/2010 anyway but Gaga released The Fame and basically lead the trend, even if Britney had used the sound in 2007, Kylie in 2006 and Madonna in 2005. Every trend has a figurehead so why not do it with urban-pop?
And my initial comment said any electro-pop producer anyway, something Darkchild is not. Furthermore, Max Martin's music is rarely generic. His work alongside Dr. Luke but his solo production isn't, especially when the artist he is working with isn't generic themselves. Interesting you say that about Max Martin when the single thread we are in is for Do What U Want, a song that has received many comparison's to Your Body by Xtina, a song produced by Max Martin over a year prior to DWUW's release.

She's clearly not performing at the Grammys. It would seem desperate at this point.
So just don't give up on DWUW and release the video next week.

I think DJWS and Gaga did a great job and could do even better. I'd cut him down to 2-4 tracks though. I'm into Darkchild too. She should ditch EDM unless she's going to go hard. Dance-poppy is dead and I hope she doesn't make that sound for a while. I support urban electronic pop
