It's hard to believe, but even Madonna had to be inspired by someone. Check the receipts and she admits her adoration for one Deborah Harry, lead singer of Blondie. Debbie and her band were brave enough to do what they wanted, when they wanted, migrating through genres and flipping off anyone who told them they weren't punk. Blondie's unyielding spirit was the punkest thing of all.
Never understood the love for them, their music is as generic as Katy's worst. Can't speak French and biology are one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

In my opinion, Spice Girls provided the blueprint to what every other girl group after 1997 tried to emulate (with different results, obvi). There was also the success (and some times good stuff) that was released by each SG as a solo artist. In terms of influence I'd place them high above GA.

Spice Girls only have like 5 memorable songs, do NOT compare them to Girls Aloud in terms of musical quality.
Please, Spice Girls have two albums filled with memorable songs. Their short time together managed to produce the most high-quality, memorable music from any girl group, ever. Heck, even songs done exclusively for their film have become iconic and globally recognized.

Say You'll Be There, Wannabe, Spice Up Your Life, and that one random swing/jazz one are the only ones I like. Everything else is just.... BORING.

Even as solo artists they were highly influential, just look at Victoria and Rihanna/Britney.
Style, sheen, social consciousness, and hooks big enough to become one of the first Black acts to breakthrough to the mainstream. The Supremes had such a solid foundation that they lasted even after their star left. Up the ladder to the roof, indeed.
