While there is little doubt Perry is attractive, what was most surprising was how much stronger her voice sounded in concert. The sometimes wispy Top 40 vocals found on disc were replaced with a far richer sound.

Perry frequently gets criticism for being a weak singer, a note she’s clearly taken to heart. For most of the show, she was in control of her singing: solid, if not stellar.

I think a lot of people would be surprised/impressed by Katy's more edgy/rock-y side in CTD so it would be a hit. NLTM would be a minor success at best.

"Peacock" would lose sales to the controversy but it's really catchy with a hot, hot beat. It's probably the only song left on the album that could hit #1 and could easily take Europe by storm.

I feel like NLTM would smash the HAC and AC charts, and that would be a good thing to establish before her new singles/album. And CTD is one of my favorites, but I don't know about how well it would do. =/

Her voice is surprisingly strong live. (Although you never know these days, it sure seemed as though she was actually singing.) The few times all the busyness onstage took a break were quite effective, with the spotlight on Perry's singing. Most striking was the understated loveliness she brought to "Thinking of You" and the simmering way she started "I Kissed a Girl" as a torch song.

Beyond that, though, they showed that Perry's got real vocal chops. If she can turn "Whip My Hair" into something interesting, you know she's good.
