Bot Teenage Dream (track) and E.T. were released as promo singles. And E.T. (demo) leaked a while before the promo single release (this might have been a leak from the label btw). But on the other hand, E.T. was 4th single and thus quite late but still a big hit - while I do believe that the fact is has a very good video and insane airplay (Gaga never gets to those numbers) and last but probably most important: remix ft. Kanye West.

Usually they go like this.

3 countdown singles:
2 May: Countdown Single 1
9 May: Countdown Single 2

So, usually 7 days apart and the last one 7 days before the album release.

I wouldn't be surprised if You and I ended being one of the countdown releases. She's really excited about the track, and it features a member from Queen. She's performed it live so many times that it would garner attention.

Marry the Night as a countdown single wouldn't surprise me either, but I hope not. I honestly think the label could attract buyers with nearly any track on the album, as Gaga herself said any track could be a single. I want MTN to have a build up so that the public isn't entirely exposed to until its time single time.

We'll see. Interscope + Gaga know what they're doing. Let's face it whatever she puts out is going to generate attention!

To whose countdown single run do you guys think we should compare GaGa's (or hope GaGa for emulate), Taylor or Katy?

Taylor got to the million mark, but not without sacrificing Back to December: this era started with a record-breaking bang, but it doesn't look good now single-wise.

Katy's album sales are, to say it aptly, lukewarm. But damn, one of the best era in terms of singles in recent memory.

Hmm... looking back, TFM also had countdown singles but those were actually cancelled last minute or something and apparantly some stores still sold them (Ireland: Alejandro, another store: Dance In The Dark). Alejandro still made a very good single in the EU - it was sooo huge here (while the video was arguably the worst she made).

I can't wait to hear what the countdown singles shall be. Apparantly, I cannot find any album with only 2 countdown singles: except TFM but that wasn't a real countdown somehow (supposed to be cancelled).
So I think 3 countdown singles are given - but we'll see when the page gets up...

Yes. I believe that would be the case. Same happened with HIAM (and TTWE?) - I read.
I wonder how we can stop this... Maybe just buy all tracks individually but then you will miss the album only track? Hmm hmm hmm. I think KRL would be able to get the best way to buy the album from some Interscope contact when you already have the (countdown)singles on iTunes

Recently my iTunes has been doing weird things anyway... For example when the remixes (part 2) came out, it didn't allow me to purchase 3 and complete the album for the other 3... I either had to pay for the full album on top of the purchases or purchase the other 3 separately...

No the negative sales count for the Hot 100 on the album release week; Mine went 13-21-16 and HIAM 52-75-59.
