Speaking of DexNav. That's one thing I like and don't like about ORAS. In HGSS they at least added new areas before E4, even if we could still only get Johto pokemon. I usually try and use pokemon of the four main elemental types but Gen 3 had so many awful fire types. Why couldn't they just give us the dexnav pokemon from the start. Would have been so much better if I could use Misdreavus / Eevee / Ponyta etc. (I think there's an ORAS hack which does this tho.)

* Except for new regions, ala Kanto in HGSS.

Emerald > ORAS for me. The Battle Frontier is everything. Graphics don't matter to me as long they don't look like gen 1. Even G/S/C is fine.

Although I'm not fond of Hoenn in general, the remakes > the original trio. Emerald was too complicated for me at the time and caused me a lot of emotional turmoil.

In terms of end-game I somewhat agree. Although HGSS did offer the eight extra gyms along with Battle Frontier & and the 2nd region, BW2 trumps over it a little bit through the Black City/White Forest, World Tournament, Challenge Mode, Team Plasma continuation, extra cities, etc.

Not sure why Gamefreak hasn't made Challenge Mode or walking Pokemon a staple yet.

Difficult settings should really be a standard especially since they acknowledge that fans want harder games but won't make them harder cause kids these days are too dumb apparently.
Pokemon following you is a cute feature but would be a mess in gen 6 due to sizes of certain pokemon.

I mean, Exp. Share is cute if you're a fan of blowing the whole entire game back with little effort. You don't even really need to build a good team to go through the game with ease. For example, I used a Dunsparce on my X team and I wasn't even hindered.

I adore the good flinch haxing legend sis (which is why i used ha!) but she just ain't that good of a Pokemon from an in-game standpoint. No speed and low defenses bar HP (which due to the power creep is just OK at this point), and not even enough offense to make up for it.

Well I hope they listened to some criticisms during the X/Y days because folks have been saying it was too easy. If Z doesn't offer a difficulty mode then that would be .

Even Black2/White2 attempted to step things up to appeal to the hardcore fanbases that actually want a challenge in the single-player without having to rely on wifi matches for any serious play. I would hate for them to regress back to simplicity. But then again maybe X/Y was just a thing to get players back into the PKMN franchise & they didn't want to make it complicated with the settings. I know tons of people who haven't played pokemon for years before they hopped on X/Y.

Yeah XY was definitely a way to not only get new players but also get old players back (hence all the gen 1 pandering).
It's easy and watered down especially in the story department but the huge selection of Pokemon and flashy region definitely leave good impression at first and lbr casual players don't care about more (sadly)

For the first part let's hope someone capable is directing the game(s) instead of Masuda like Morimoto (Emerald, HGSS) or Unno (BW2). They seemed to be able to grasp what fans want unlike Masuda who wants to appeal to casual players
