Um, during the entire lead-up to this song's release all of the Shakira and Rih stans were saying that it'd hit #1 based on name alone... if Shakira and Rihanna were really as big as their stans claim then the song should have had no problem hitting #1 in a couple of hours, max.

I love shakira. And this song is just ok. I miss the old shakira tbh. She became popular in the states cause she was so different. Laundry service was an amazing album. And I won't even talk about how amazing and flawless donde estan Los ladrones is. I've been a fan of hers since pies descalzos and I've seen her put out amazig music in the past. To me this song is mediocre and she can do better. She wolf is actually way better than this song. And trust me this song isn't gonna be a hit. You guys are just assuming it will be because of rihanna.

Each song is different, you can't just go on past iTunes positions as an indicator of what this song will do, otherwise Applause would have hit #1. Perhaps it is a slow grower and it will hit #1, or perhaps by the time that it has enough exposure people will realise that the song really isn't all that great and won't buy it and it'll peak at #11, or at best in the lower portion of the Top 10.

Last time I checked this was ATRL where all discussion about music is tolerated. Also, last time I checked, this was the Can't Remember To Forget You single thread where discussion about this particular single is tolerated. All I'm doing is having an opinion on a track.

For a song that's gotten quite a bit of criticism for being "lacklustre" etc, I don't think it's doing too bad on iTunes.
It hasn't even received as much publicity as it can get (iTunes banners, performances, etc) yet so it will be interesting to see the changes once these factors kick in.

LOL I was one of the few people who loved Applause from the first listen, and I don't even care that it didn't hit #1. It's one of the best tracks on ARTPOP.
