I would in terms of first week sales, Leona debuted with 200k and has steadily gone down to 50-60k whereas Mariah debuted with 475k and has gone down more rapidly to 50k-60k, although this could be argued with Mariah having such a big opening.

^I agree, I think that Leona's been more consistent as half of Mariah's sales came from her first week, whereas Leona's more than tripled her first week sales

That used to happen all the time in the past. It's weird they're doing it now. However, it's all up to the labels, they're the ones that pay for the certifications.

It's because she's still selling consistenly well and because it should be able to reach 7 million sales pretty easily by the end of '09.

It's frustrating though when labels don't certify albums when they should (i.e. "In The Zone" should be 3x platinum, "Love.Angel.Music.Baby" should be 4x platinum, "Loose' should be 2x platinum, etc.)

Ashanti's album drops Tuesday. She has a pretty good chance at debuting at #1 depending on how much Usher drops, she may end up at #2. Her only other real competition is Weezer.

This may just be because I live far away from America and have no idea how big Ashanti still is, but from what I know, Usher could drop 90% and still beat her. I think Weezer at least will beat her out.

^Well Usher supposed to open with around 450k, you're only predicting a little over 55% drop? I'm guessing a usual 60%+ drop, including the fact that its still being illegally downloaded, I'm think a little under 200k, to as high as 180k.

Ashanti will be #2 or #3, depending on Weezer.

I'd predict a bit more for his second week, something around 190k.
