"It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves, you know. To put other people down, or make fun of them, or maybe make mockery of their work. And that doesn't make me feel good at all. That just makes me feel like I'm not being a good Human Being.
I feel like if you're a really good Human Being, you can try to find something beautiful in every single person, no matter what. And it's a challenge, but, at the end of the day, I learned so much this year about that. I learned a lot about negativity. I learned a lot about people trying to tear you down, and I'm just not that person and I never will be. And I don't even want to fight back, because it's more important to me to keep writting music, 'cause that's all I really care about, it's the music. I am my music, I'm my hair, I am all of this. And that's why I say that I am you, because I feel like I learned that from you.
When I look at your eyes every night, I don't see a fan base that wants me to fight, or bite, or you know, be shady and ****y. The way that we all used to be. It's ok, you know, it's fine right? But, at the end of the day, we're at a new place in society now aren't we? Are we in a new place? Can I believe in being Born This Way? Can I be gay and not have to slice you? Can I be gay and not have to be a ****? Can I be gay and not feel that I have to --, or be shady? Or can I just be myself and not have to do that?
Things are really different now than they were 25 years ago.
aw this is why I love her so much. I think I'm going to be a fan for life. Such a pity the world doesn't see this side of her. All they see are the wigs and the lipstick and they shutdown and don't try to understand and look beneath. Always judging the book by its cover.
US pop diva Lady Gaga wowed tens of thousands of South Koreans at the opening show of her global tour Friday with signature flamboyant outfits and a provocative performance.
This celebratory nature is what makes her so popular. Friday night was Lady Gaga at her best, fusing fashion and designs with great melodies and dance moves. Despite a few hiccups, it was a powerful lesson to the K-pop stars who dotted the arena.
Most of her notes were solid and confident throughout, a notable feat while going through all her athletic dance moves.
Lu said the four tickets in the pit cost him huge bucks, but he brought his family to the concert because he thought it was a "once in a lifetime experience" and because he wanted his children to experience something unique.
The production of the biggest concert ever in Thailand was super tight, the sound was solid (even in our seats in literally the last row of the massive stadium), and, most importantly, Lady Gaga sang beautifully.
I am a grown-ass 28-year-old straight man, but I joined the legions of Little Monsters on Friday night and I am not ashamed. To all the naysayers and haters out there – and there have been many, especially on Twitter – I would respectfully say that Lady Gaga pretty much blew your chatter out of the water.
Then the lights came on and everyone went home – transformed into Little Monsters if they weren’t already – and having witnessed what was Thailand’s biggest and, many will argue, best concert ever.
Her charisma and showmanship got the sell-out crowd at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on their feet, chanting her name and waving their 'claws' - Lady Gaga's signature hand gesture – in the air.
But Lady Gaga really is — a stellar performer. Even if you strip her spectacle down, you have a very talented 26-year old woman who has a knack for putting on one helluva performance.
Her voice was a powerhouse throughout the show (especially on ‘Hair’ and ‘You and I’) — on key and in tune. It was a stunning reminder: beneath the blood and latex, is a fantastic vocalist.

Review: BTW Ball in the Philippines
During the Manila stretch of her latest world concert series, the international pop superstar showed that she has perfected the “art” of live performances. She sings, dances, does theatrics, and interacts with props seamlessly on stage.
She's eccentric, she's iconic, she's controversial, she's a little bit terrifying. And after seeing her in all her glory in the first of three New Zealand shows last night, she's really quite spellbinding.
There is no doubt this girl can sing, and when you were able to focus in on that, especially on songs like the stripped back Hair and Edge of Glory, it was pretty special.
But despite it's odd changes of pace and message, it was a stunning display of creativity and talent.
For behind all the trappings, Gaga is a brilliant singer, songwriter and dancer - when she got the opportunity to open her lungs on songs like You and I, and The Edge of Glory, there was no doubt she's the new Madonna.
Lady Gaga showed off her skills as a singer, dancer musician and public speaker in last night’s show.
It was a feast for the ears and eyes as she and her dancers performed high-powered dance routines on a spectacular fairy tale set, and I lost track of how many times she changed outfits.
The elaborate costumes ranged from origami-style to sexy biker chick, with Gaga sporting what she described as “tangy” or tangerine orange hair.
Gaga proved herself as a singer and musician, singing numerous a capella numbers in an almost operatic style, as well as sometimes playing instruments.
I was pleased she sang a good mix of tracks from her Born This Way and Fame Monster albums, and audience members definitely sang along enthusiastically to the most popular ones with their "paws up".
It was amazing how fit Gaga was and how well she could sing while performing complex and often sexual dance routines. Her back-up dancers were superb and both the men and women very buff.
One thing I was not expecting was the amount she talked to the audience. I’ve been to many international music acts, and usually you’re lucky if you get a “hello New Zealand” out of the singers. But Gaga captivated audience with her words of wisdom and life advice, at times talking for about 10 minutes, bringing some audience members to tears at the front of the stage.
There was a fascinating cross section of people in the audience. There were teenagers who looked 13 or younger, right up to people probably in their 60s. I was so impressed by the range and creativity of audience members' outfits. I'm sure every incarnation of Gaga was in the audience.
Overall it was an enthralling night out for anyone who likes Gaga and her music.
Gaga rode in on a mechanical horse alongside a huge disembodied head announcing her intention to invade the country and it never relaxed from there.
The show marries two themes; an impending invasion by her little monsters merged with a one woman campaign to end discrimination against homosexuals. I prefer my rock stars to be from the self-destructive narcissistic nihilist school of Rock and Roll, no one was there for a civic lesson Gaga. Get on with the show!
We endured Highway Unicorn and Government Hooker, two worthy and unknown tunes from her recent album, but took to our feet when she sprang from a giant vagina belting out Born This Way.
The infectious beat and unconventional voice that is her signature filled the arena and the megawatt base system made sure that we felt the song pounding in our internal organs. The volume was cranked up well past any OSH standards and the light display may have left me with a permanent blind spot but the passion that goes into each song can be felt even from the cheap seats.
The hits were compressed into the first half with Bad Romance and Just Dance getting even grandma's juices flowing and Gaga's rapid fire costume changes were as impressive creatively as they were logistically.
The backdrop was a medieval castle that folded, opened, collapsed and rotated to accommodate the enormous energy of Gaga and her dancers. This was her kingdom, she declared. And it was. She had herself built into a bike and seemed to enjoy being ridden before pausing the show for a full twenty minutes delving into some new age nonsense before thankfully returning to the music.
She was invading so guns were everywhere, the most impressive a self-loading two gun bra that was waved around with menace as she rocked out Paparazzi although this was tame compared to the execution and dispatching of a discharged lover, pogo stick and all, through a meat grinder. A very bad romance.
The meaning of meat dresses escapes me but several of her female dancers appeared to be sporting meat underwear during the rendition of the otherwise un-noteworthy song Americano. Steak tartare anyone?
Hopefully the cows were TB free before being sent to the pattern maker but this lead us into the tune of the night: Poker Face. Vector rose to her feet for the song that kicked Gaga's career into high gear and is still defines her music. It was what the crowd had come to hear. We could have heard it again.
She finished with a technically brilliant, soaring and passionate rendition of The Edge of Glory and it obvious Gaga believes in her message, you can feel it in her voice. Behind all lights, glitz, meat, guns and exploding bras is a singer of exceptional talent.
She will be back, she tells us, but fame is a fickle master. She has one more Auckland concert tonight.
