I'm all in for educating people instead of blaming/shaming and in 99% of the cases that's all it takes for them to understand the matter.

i think as k-pop becomes even more global companies, at least the bigger ones, should be spending more time educating them on world history.
they should at the very least have someone who can tell them what words they shouldn't say to avoid things like this because the backlash currently isn't really big enough for other idols/groups to really pay attention. It's usually just hate comments on that individual member's insta for a few days and if they don't speak english then they don't even apologise because they don't know they've even done anything wrong.
