Hmmm idk. Def jam may have just been the reason for "The Worst" radio success. It did come out of no where. Honestly jhene never has done much promo other than things she could do without the support of a label.
And it's kind of hard to promote an artist who doesn't write mainstream music IMO. Sure she has a solid spot since she writes her own music, she's profitable , but without radio what more can the label do? I mean other than late night shows and make sure she tours?
Id be cool if they get her own more hooks like From Time. Promote her that way, sort of how they did rihanna until radio truly catches on.
